Yeah it sucks. The friggen spare is always in the way. I'll be making something custom this summer tho.

Without sacrificing the whole rear hatch area... fiberglass is the only way to go. Unfortunately... it's too time consuming and too expensive, neither of which I can afford. A Bazooka sub is probably a good compromise, but I can't stand the way they sound, too muddy.

What I'm thinking about doing is putting the sub in here, only on the opposite side (thats not my interior)

I'm gonna cut out the trim enough so I can stick a sub in there so that I will still be able to keep the spare and be able to get it out when I want/ need it, and build a box around it with fiberglass and mdf. Then, I'm gonna build somethign to hold the amp on the other side. Eventually I'll get another 12" and put one on each side and put the amp in between somewhere.

I wouldn't trim any of the interior panels. Most interior parts for the 1G have long been discontinued and good examples are hard to come by. If it's a 10" sub, there is sufficient space at the other corner for a sealed enclosure. Even if you plan on keeping your car for a long time, there will always be a day when you need to move on or let it go. I'd avoid making any permanent changes to stock parts as much as possible. I'd keep the amp mounted where you have it now or get a smaller one that is easier to conceal. I wouldn't put anything electrical on the fuel pump side.

Beat This...OMG

somebody had a box built in the space where a top goes down on a spyder..anybody have those pics?

Here was mine. In the doors, I has Memphis 8" midbass driver, with tweeters in the pod, and USD waveguides under the dash. I had a Memphis Belle running it all with an Audio Control 3.1, and Alpine 9815.

Is that the spare under your boxes?

you guys are all kidding, right? JL Audio is the way to go with subs. Especially the W7 series as seen in this photo of my trunk.:thumb: But you're right about the sony subs, they do stink, they hit the basket too much, they arent made for excursion or to be coupled with a line driver, for those who know what that is. If you want real clean bass, you need a good deck, so it sends a clean signal, a high wattage amp so you dont lose clarity there either and a real nice sub to reproduce the clean signal. There is a trade off, its very expensive. You can always go get cheapo subs for 35 bucks a piece, but 10, get 5 shit 2 channel amps and ride around fartin' and distortin, but kinda loud. I just chose to spoil myself with face melting ear shattering clean bass, so what u see is what i got. Personally, JL is the only thing for me as far as subs go. I havent landed with my favorite amp yet. The JBL BP1200.1 on the left you see will be taken out pretty soon and replaced with a 3000 watt amplifier. As far as speakers go, there is nothing like a nice set of MB Quart speakers in the car, with a nice set of properly put in and hooked up crossovers.

Chadillac, yours is absolutely hot too! How much did that run you?

Here's mine....

I think I'm going to be moving the component crossovers to the custom door panels I'm making and fiberglassing the floor of the trunk too.
