has anyone heard of groups or orginizations doing road rallys. I have been watching that new show on spike tv bullrun and i also have gumball rally and some other road rally dvds. i have always wanted to do one and just did not know if there was a group that did suck a thing and where they were. If there is such a thing and u have done them let me know how it was.

Well there are a few.

AKA rally is one of he most resonable, if my car was street legal I would do it. Possibly next year i will take the wifes 300c, or if I have another car by then.

Or they also have Open Road Challenges which are shorter and speeds are legal. They fill up early. I am on the waiting list for one in Nebraska.

The Targa NewFoundland is a very good one. Sections for both performance and TSD rally. The SCCA has an active TSD (basically, low-speed, navigation) road rally program. NASA and RallyAmerica have active performance rally.

Then, there's events like the Silver State Challenge and the various hillclimbs around for something in between a "track" type event and a true rally.

I'll be rallying with at least 3 different clubs this summer again :) Unfortunately, my DSM, which has the GOOD rally computer is down AGAIN. This time with severe electrical issues. Luckily my ol' standby, my MR2, is, as always, ready to take me out to play! BUT, it has the rally computer that my navi doesn't like as well. :-(

where did you purchase your rally computer from? ive been lookign into it as a possibility for my beater 1g gs-t i just picked up. and after going ot Rally New York yesterday and seeing how much fun it is, i DEF. wanna invest in this. thanx.

The 2 that I have are the Alfa and a Timewise. There's other brands out there (such as Terratrip, etc.), but I don't like them as well.

Picking one will be based upon what fits in your particular car best, price, and how you work with your navi. The Alfa is a lot less expensive, easy to use, and gives more control to the driver. The Timewise is pricy, but is heavy-duty industrial strength, harder to use (I think), and gives more control to the navigator. Either one is perfectly capable of giving you the results you need.

Since I do TSD, I have the "Alfa-Elite" and the "Timewise 798A", but if you're doing performance only (not TSD), or running in a lesser class, you can spend less and get smaller versions of the computers. Both companies are good to deal with. Be prepared to wait awhile for a Timewise though, especially if you have any custom modifications done to the base configuration.

Timewise = http://home.comcast.net/~timewise1/

Can be ordered direct from manufacturer, or you may find someone near you that stocks them. I think "Competition Ltd.", in Michigan, may stock some (I don't have current contact info). I bought my Alfa through Greg Lester (I'll have to hunt up his e-mail address... I don't have it handy...), who's located in Ohio. My Timewise was a direct order with a custom config.
