So I just bought a spyder gst and my door locks wont work. The fuse is good and there is a clicking noise when you try and lock them. The clicking sounds like its coming from somewhere behind the radio. Anyone have any ideas?

It could be the security system, so stick your key in the drivers door and turn it to the right and hold it to the right for 3 seconds. And if it indeed is the security system then this will reset it.

cool ill try it and see if it works.....thanks

ok so i tried it and nothing happened?

There is also a relay for the power door locks if i remember correctly. And i do believe it is somewhere behind the radio

Got the same problem on my new 98 spyder GST, I'll try the door lock trick then the relay (dealership had an aftermarket HU put in before I bought the car).

Take your door panels off and look at the electrical connector on the back side of the "key cylinder"? When my car had the random lock problem it was one of those connectors, either from the driver or passenger side had came off. Hope this helps some of you out

Check the wiring to make sure the connectors to each door switch panel is plugged in. And they are wired as a circuit so passenger side switch not being fully connected can affect drivers side operation etc. My locks from the drivers side switch panel were locking and unlocking very sluggishly. But crisp and clean from passenger side switch panel. I popped off both inside door panels and sure enough the passenger side switch was not fully connected. The plug was only clicked together on one side. It was open a few millimeter on the other side. Firmly plugged it in and it worked beautifully

^^ I took the passenger panel off the second day I had the car to try and figure it out, the plug was in all the way and I even took it out and back in a few times to make sure the switch was good. The windows roll down fine from both passenger and driver switch, just the door locks don't. Weird thing was, when I took the panel off the first time my girlfriend hit the door lock on the driver side and about 5 seconds later all of a sudden the door locks started moving like they were going to lock. I don't think that both actuators could go bad, but I haven't pulled them out to test them.

Did that when I took the panel off. They were connected on the passenger side, haven't dug into the driver side yet.

Update: I have a question first of all. Does the "key cylinder" itself have to be hooked up in order for the door locks to work? Or does the plug/wires just have to be plugged in for it to work? Reason for asking is because the "key cylinder" on the passenger side isn't there, the driver side has it and it will lock/unlock the car with the key from the outside, but the passenger side doesn't have the metal cylinder, only the plug that connects to the back of the cylinder.

Next, I tested the motors. On each side there's one wire that's always hot, one ground, and then 2 other wires. When hooking up a test light to one of the other wires I get power when I hit the "unlock" button on the switch like I should, however, when I hit the "lock" switch I don't get power to either of the 2 wires.

This lead me to believe that maybe the relay was bad (I can hear it clicking when hitting the "unlock" switch, but it doesn't click when I hit the "lock" switch. I pulled the console out and found the "relay" (not sure if it's really a relay) under the radio. It clicks with the unlock, but not the lock. Since it's not your normal relay I assume you can only get it at the dealership? I haven't take it out yet and taken it to an autoparts store to find out, and the nearest dealership is almost an hour away.

Any ideas anyone? I'm going to take the trunk key cylinder and put it where the passenger one should be and see how that goes, but I'm fairly stumped right now.

Just remembered, when I reconnect the door motor plug the motor locks the doors.

When my door locks stopped working it was because the circle connector that connects on the back of the cylnder had came off. I reconnected it to the cylinder and the worked again.

I figured it out on mine. If the "key cylinder" isn't hooked up then the harness that connects to it needs to be set in the "neutral" position. I just turned the little circular harness until it was in the middle and now the locks work fine.
