Just rebuilt my motor. Manley rods and pistons with BC 280s. Going to FIC 950s on 93 pump with an hx40.

My stock 450s are shot and I want to know if it will be ok to break the car in with 950s and tuning with ECMLink? First time with everything on the car and have never used ECMLink before but have watched all the demos and feel comfortable setting up the base tune.

Will it run fairly well after I setup it up for the 950s and my 2g MAF without really messing with it? Just don't want to do any damage to this new motor. If I need to get some 450s and run my stock ECU I will.

You want to set your base settings before starting up. Just turn the key to ON, fire up link, and make necessary changes to start up. From then, it just uses stock timing, fuel, and airflow maps so it will be like driving with a completely stock ECU, just able to accommodate larger injectors (and any other small things you may need).

Is it necessary to have the stock map sensor hooked up on a 2g if I'm running ECMLink?

Going to start my car this weekend and it's the only sensor not hooked up.

We don't have a stock MAP sensor, we have an MDP sensor and its only function is checking the operability of the EGR system. You'll get a check engine light, maybe.

The MDP sensor is located on top of the intake manifold. It is emissions related and on the "DTC" tab on ECMLink you can click on the check box to not check for emissions CEL.

We MAF based cars do not use a MAP sensor.

Ok thanks alot that's all I needed to know. I haven't got a chance to play around with link yet.

Just finished getting everything back together. Using ECMLink for tuning, have the stock injectors in. Global and deadtime both at zero.

Initially tried starting with 950s and switched back to the stock. Plugs were soaked, dried them and the cylinders. Today tried with the stock injectors and all I'm getting is back firing.

Any ideas?

The first night I tried to start it with the 950s I flooded it bad. I didn't have that power unit connected for the coil pack. The next night tried again with it plugged in and it backfired a few times so I figured it was just flooded. Dried the plugs tried again and still backfires, doesn't even seem like it wants to start.

Today I put the stock injectors in and reset the global on link, cleaned the plugs and shot a flame in the cylinder to get the fuel out. Went to start it and it still will crank for a few seconds then just backfire like once and maybe a little chug that's it.

Still seems to be flooding, does holding the gas to the floor cut the injectors?

I do have a code P0340 cam shaft position sensor circuit malfunction but it should still start even if the cam sensors bad right?

No, this could cause a no start either you need to get a new cam sensor or your timing is way off then try and start it. Also if your going to trying starting it with the 950's again make sure you change the global % before you try starting it.

Check your plug wires. I had the same problem on a car and turned out the guy put the plug wires on wrong. It would turn over and just backfire.

If I have a 1g cam sensor on and invert the signal with link that only switches it for the injectors not the coilpack correct? So I need to move my plug wires?

CAS is timed and shouldn't using ECMLink to invert the the signal eliminate the need the swap the injector wires at the ECU? I've already tried swapping the plug wires with no luck but maybe it was just flooded. I'll try it again tom.
