Dyno Dynamics dynoes read quite a bit lower than a Dynojet. He probably would put down around 470whp on a djet. Put in in that perspective, and i think these numbers look more like what we expect

Sounds about right. I made 470awhp with my hx40 setup on a Dynojet.
 
Do you have a graph? I see you are at 47 posts :) If you have a thread on your build and results, I will add it to the results thread (unless of course Morphius disapproves), until you get your status changed. If you want.
 
Did you have to run a spacer with this set-up? It's hard to see it in the picture.


No spacer, just very slight "denting" of the waterpipe. Probably a 1/16th" clearance between the cover and pipe




And Wheelhop, I'll try to get a graph, I'd like to move the first post if possible to the Holset results.

Definately get those graphs. Peak HP means alot. But seeing the curve to evaluate means alot more since dynos read so drastically different, as you no doubt know.

I'll say it again. You need a bit more timing with your fuel choice and CR. Someone is being conservative. You're not even running stock peak timing. e85 can definately tolerate more. It burns slow. Many with the same manifold temp (same charge cooling and same boost: same adabiatic compression) with similar torque results (similar cylinder pressure), run 22-24 degrees timing advance at peak with e-85 and stock compression.

Hey, back at the start of the thread you said your GM MAF is "dumb". What does that mean? I am not a ecmlink user, is that a ecmlink term?

Email me the dyno graph pics as attachments. You can send me an email via my profile. Of course let me know who the he!! you are in the email. I get strange graphs and pics sent to me all the time :) . Or you can upload the pics to a photobucket account. That works for me.

Yes, you can't post, "Cool!" or "You're an idiot!" and expect to have them count. Also the posts have to be made in the tech forums; not the hangout or anything like that. It's not about how much you know as much as it's about how much you've contributed. Of course, there's guys out there who really know their stuff and dont even get on the internet, but there's no other way to sift out the crap from the sand. Some times the sand gets stuck on the crap.
 
I added a wet dyno graph to first post.

I have a 488k limit for pics, (i'm maxed right now). Will that change? I'd like to post more.

I'm going to my local track this weekend :) should have some slips up sunday.
 
That's a crappy pic :) but it works. Good stuff. GREAT results from a dyno dynamics. A dynojet would typically read 22% higher. And GREAT results for only 28psi. Nevermind the 7.8:1CR and 18* timing on e-85. Thanx for the pic of the dyno chart!
 
Agreed on the timing. I'm running 24* 9:1 compression peak timing on e85. With a bws259 .70ar. no knock @ 30psi. So for sure add some more timing. This guy dynoed on a dyno dynamics and then went to a dyno jet. It was a 16% difference. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/330712-bw-s362-log.html So 470 @ 28psi is very good. That turbo will shine @35psi when you turn the boost up and add some timing.
 
That power seems about SOP for the bullseye housing. You could definitely run a little more timing and boost, but you basically are running an exhaust restrictor plate.
 
Well, I think it's the turbine wheel, if your really concerned about restriction. The same a/r bep turbine housing has done 685whp with the hx40 12blade turbine wheel.

Yes, a larger a/r turbine housing would do better. Or one with a better entry to the turbine blades. But still, you have to look at a total change in the setup for such results. However, this is great for ANY bolton turbo of this flow and spool. Give credit to the turbine wheel or give credit to the turbine housing; neither is popular.
 
Ive decided to get the hx40 8/12 blade in the bep bolt on housing. Dyno runs Ive seen on the bigger ones show some good spool and the 8 blade will flow 60lb/min. I cant wait, the hunt is on!!
 
OP is your car stock weight or did you do weight reduction. Not bad E.t. and trap speed with your 1.8 60ft.
Though you have e85, your numbers give me good hopes for my hx40 setup because I have more mods than you and Im aiming for 28psi on 93octane aiming for
over 400awhp. Good stuff, get some videos going of the car.
 
So I'm making a lot better power now, check the updated first post!
 
OMG 450whp on a mustang dyno. Mustang reads 18% lower than a Dynojet. So that's about 550whp with a dynojet! I want to see another 10 second hx40!!!! Badman21 has already done it. And, kp116 is SOO close.

I'm not even done my twinscroll hx40 build. :(

Have you put your car on a dyno to see if your 24degs is really making more hp than say 19-20degs of peak timing. Most of the time going from 20degs to 24-25degs of peak timing is only going to gain you a few hp but it increases cylinder pressures to points that blocks start cracking with that much timing and boost.. I know on my car going from 20degs peak to 21degs peak only gained me 2hp. Not worth it in my book. Just giving you a idea.
