My compound turbo set-up

Just dyno it at the shootout, I want to hear it. :D
I would, but I'm broke. I even plan to camp in a tent at the SO to help save money.

Plus, I'd like to keep using the same dyno as before, so that I can compare previous dyno charts to newer ones.

But who knows - I might spur-of-the-moment change my mind when I'm there on Saturday. :sneaky:

i think because of this new found turbo set up ( for dsm's) he should be on the web site home page insted of the one lap of america vr4.

I agree, the one lap car has been up there forever.. Time to throw up somethign new! Plus i think Paul deserves a little spotlighting for all his efforts to get this done and working. Despite the troubles and tight fit the man stuck with until it was done and that alone is enough to deserve the front page if you ask me.

Add my vote to this proposition :thumb:

+1 on the vote to add this to the featured car. This is a rediculous amount of time planning, researching, fabricating and now tuning the twin turbo setup. This is the groundbreaking stuff that most people on this site dream of doing, but never have the capabilities to make it happen.

Paul's unique DSM and dedication deserve to be featured on the front page. ^^^ +1

See Paul I told you a while ago lose the flames out the muffler get a better wing and people will start hopping on the bandwagon LOL j/k. I def agree this is def a car worthy of praise even without huge HP numbers it's ahead of the curve and innovative.

I am probably going to the shootout and I hope to see the beast in action.
I'll definitely have it there. I'll be at Buschur's bright and early on Saturday, and even though we're camping at the Milan travel park, there's a solid chance I'll still be making my rounds through the hotels.

The flame thrower was just to prove some co-workers that it was possible. Even though it worked, it was a horrible idea because it washed the walls so badly. But, I proved them wrong. :D And the wing and the front bumper was a long time coming. :rocks:

Thanks for the compliments, Sean. Come say hi on Saturday at Dave's.

I can't wait to see it there again this year! Any chance of seeing it make a pass?
No Norwalk racing for me this year. I plan on driving it there and back, so I can't risk breaking it or blowing it up - at least not that far from home.

And I know I wouldn't be very competitive with it either. My full weight street car would be stuck in the Quick 16 class, and they'd eat me alive. LOL

Yeah I will def be making my rounds to your car and you. That's next sat though ;)

I finally got my boost turned up via a Hallman MBC. It's now spiking 40 psi at 4500 RPMs and it slowly falls to 35 psi by 8K. Holy hell, it's fast now. I'll share a log hopefully by the end of this week. Link shows I picked up almost 20 lbs/min with this boost increase.

Spool-up goes like this:

10 psi @ 3264 RPM
20 psi @ 3720 RPM
30 psi @ 4058 RPM
40 psi @ 4518 RPM

My dyno time is booked for September 3rd.

those are some damn good spool characterstics for that turbo. can't wait to see how much better your spool gets with a good tune though...

Mind telling us your peak airflow numbers in lb/min?
I don't have the back half of my MAFcomp table calibrated properly yet, so the airfow number that I see if inflated a bit. Once I get it dialed in and displaying properly, I'll share.

99 GST Racer ..... I watched your video's on youtube racing that guy from a roll. It looks similar to most other DSM and EVO racing video's in the fact that it was your top end that won the races. Would you say that the performance of this set up was worth all the effort you went through? There's obviously only so much I could see from your video's, so even though I can't see the difference in low end grunt doesn't mean it's not there.

I love the thought of a BC 2.6 stroker motor for lots of low RPM torque. But 2 turbo's under the hood looks pretty nice also........

Most definitely. It was worth every penny and every minute of work invested. The benefits of a compound turbo set-up are even more apparant at 40 psi. I was only running 27 psi in the video that you saw.
