MHI turbo pricing increase?

I have read on another forum, posted by some vendors that several mhi turbo's are going to go up in price, almost double. Does anyone have any info as to weather some of the common td05h dsm turbo's are going to go up also?

MHi turbos i cant see why they wouldnt increase in price, but double havent heard that.

I haven't heard this rumor but it would make sense after that huge tsunami hit Japans shores. I was at the Honda dealer last week pricing/driving the Insight/Fit/CR-Z and the dealer there mentioned that what was on their lot was it, when we started talking about options. I asked why and he said Honda Japan had put a stop to manufacturing certain parts and cars so getting certain things would be tough until they get back on their feet.

Not a rumor. Vendors have confirmed that the td04 13g's they use as cores for their upgraded turbo's have increased. I am just wondering if any of our vendors can confirm, or deny any changes to td05h dsm turbo's.

I just looked at a website and the 13g's were increasing in prices.

A set of 2 13g's going from $1200, to $2000 is more than an adjustment in the exchange rate.

If this does happen it will most likely cause more buyers to look to aftermarket replacements (knockoffs), or they may consider getting their blown turbo rebuilt over buying a new one.

When you look at what vendors like Forced Performance charge for an Evo III 16G versus the retail price you'd pay at the dealer, it makes you wonder how much this will effect the sales of the OEM performance turbos in the aftermarket as well as turbos that are based on OEM design like the 68HTA and Blouch 20G-XT.

it has happened already, most popular turbos have already increased in price by 25-50%. And the availability is going to be really poor thru the summer on top of it.

Yep im glad what i have, im to going enjoy my evo for some time before i think of upgrading to something else down the line.

I was just looking at FP's turbo's the other night and the prices were cheap..But I can see why they are going to go up with everything happening in Japan..But like stated before I also think it's going to force people to get an aftermarket turbo rather than oem performance..And for a 13g the price is going to be around 600 bux, thats just freaking crazy..
