Interior Water Leaks threads [Merged 1-7] leak leaking hatch sunroof drain drains

Dunno if it applies to DSMs, but my old CRX had the same exact problem. Turned out a drain tube for the sunroof (in hatch, near wheel well) had become disconnected... essentially draining into the spare tire well instead.

The eclipse has drain tubes as well and that would be a good suspect. Just need to find an easy place to check them at instead of dropping down the head liner.

My CRX sunroof drain tubes actually became disconnected at the end, in the hatch, right behind the wheel well. The flexible tubing apparently shrank over a decade or so, and eventually wouldnt stretch down far enough to go over the hard plastic tube that went down through the underside.

To get at em, ya just had to pull off the trim covering the hatch area behind the strut bump.

hey thanks so far guys I think what you've given me will set me in the right direction. first off I don't have a sunroof so that shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully this weekend I'll get some time to try and blow the hatch drain tubes out with the air-compressor. I figured it would be something like that I just didn't know where to look. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Thanks so far :thumb: :thumb:

I had the same thing happen in my talon. My wiper fluid motor had blown up and the water in the tank back their went everywhere. Changed the fluid motor and it stopped leaking.

You bring up a good point with that. If you are not using any washer fluid and ONLY water in the coolant resevior, front and rear wiper reseviors then they will freeze and crack. Once they thaw the water will vacate the resevior. If your resevior is in the trunk... the water will be too. Obviously the way to check this is make sure the resevior is full and that will rule it out. The way to prevent it from cracking is by using actual washer fluid and not ONLY water.

Did you ever find out the cause PsSsShTGSX? I'm curious because the same thing happens to me.

All you need is some weed-eater string. Push it down the tubes a few times, it will clear out blockages. I've had to do this a few times :(

Guys.. see if you can get an air compressor and use an adaptor so that you can spray 100PSI air down the vents.. my rear hatch vents were clogged with dirt and stuff.. i took the compressor and sprayed the air down them and it blew it all out..

worth a shot.

oh, and use some armor all on the seals.. it should soften them up and keep more water out!

Holy shit. What hoses it doesn't blow off it should split. Jesus, maybe 20 psi.

Meguiar's leather conditioner might be a better choice, unless drifting in your seat is also a sport now.

pffff dude, 100 psi isnt much.. that's what i used on my hatch drains.. don't be scurrd.. it's just air.

if you wanna be REALLY safe use like 50... and i'm not talkin' about making your seat slick.. ha - that was funny tho :D anytype of seal conditioner would be good.. everyone has armorall.. to go out and spend $10 on some leather conditioner for seals is like.. ahh.. i dunno i'm cheap.

Hey guys, ive done my searches and i couldnt find any solutions to my problem. For some reason, I always find the floor of my passenger side soaked with water. The weird thing is that the carpet on top of the floor is completely dry. It is like it is just rising up from underneath the floor. There are really no signs of leaks coming from the a/c or the heater core. There is no water in the back seat floor so I dont think it is retained water from underneath the spare tire, and i've checked before, there are no signs that water was really there (unless it evaporates or leaks into the front before i check?) It has been raining a lot, but its Florida and this is a new problem to me. Is it possible that it is my a/c or that water is coming in from somewhere else that is not really visible??Please help me out guys, I really dont know what to do. Thanks.

I have the same problem, But mine is because someone tried breaking in and they fu(ked up my seals around the door. The seal that is mounted directly to the car has a hole so it catches water and lets it in. Try replacing those and see what happens. :thumb:

Ill check...but it doesn't really seem like that is the problem. I mean there is a lot of water and the carpet above the floor isn't really gettin wet at all, so I dont think that could be it.

So its beein rainiing here alot lately. I got in my car to go to work this morning and in the passenger side where they put their feet, there was about an inch of water just floating there, all windows were up, sunroof tightly closed, i can not figure out where its coming from. Its not coming from a vent because the top part is not wet. I have no rust...that i know of. and i drive in the rain and i dont have any problem but when its sitting still i get a whole load of water in the passenger side. Iv never had this problem before until last night. any ideas or suggestions on how to find the leak. thanks

I had that problem with an old Mustang. It was leaking through a rusted out hole under the vent in front of the windshield and then through the firewall.

it rained real hard and it did it again last 2 nights agoand i was sure the door was shut this time. ithe back seat was wet too now that i noticed bc someone sat in it today and they got out all wet, and it happend 2 days ago so it hould have had to time to dry unless it was soaked. When i wash my car, water sits in between the hatch seal, it doesnt seemt o be draining properly, do you think thats the problem..... if so ho do i fix it??
