Interior Water Leaks threads [Merged 1-7] leak leaking hatch sunroof drain drains

I had the same problem the other day too. I have water leaking in at the seal between the pass. side mirror and the weather stripping on the car. You could see a little stream going right down the door panel. I stuck some vaccum hose behind the weather stripping to push it out a little and that seemed to work. Good luck with your leak. I have to take apart the trunk to clean/reconnect drain hoses for the rear hatch and sunroof.

Look under the spare, too- you may have a lake there.

I've got this problem!!! I know 2 spots where its coming in because someone gutted all of the panels for the spare tire in there as well as the cd changer and left 2 wide open holes. I have plugged these two holes with a sock to see if they would absorb water, which they did, so I know its coming in adleast from those 2 holes. I have ordered all of the replacement pieces to get my trunk back together but where else should I check? I'm starting to get surface rust around the windshield washer tank

Check your sunroof too, if you have one. The water isn't going drip straight down. It may have a plugged or disconnected drain hose.

Does anyone else have the problem of after a rain gallons of water run into your trunk???? i know if has to be a gasket or drain problem but what gasket??????? I have already checked the drains on the side of the hatch so thats not it????

White97rs

Check your weather stripping and the drain tubes that run along the moonroof of the car (if you have a moonroof). If your weather stripping is lifting on the hatch/rear glass, water is bound to seep in and accumulate on the hatch plastic panel.

Mine did the same, it was a leaking pass side quarter window.Don't ask me how the water made its way to the trunk, but problem was solved after I R&Red the window.

I had this problem too and replaced my weatherstriping, but it still leaked. Then I found the problem - my hatch was misaligned. Look at the gaps on each side of the hatch when its closed between it and the rear fenders. I had to move the lock/latch hook thing behind the rear interior panel over to one side to get the hatch lined back up. No more leaks!

It can also leak around the flow-thru ventilation port on the right rear side, the gasket around the hatch, from a clogged sunroof drain, and through the rear wiper pass-through.

Anyone had water get into the car FROM UNDER the car?? When it rains and drive my front and back driver side floors are wet and it seems its UNDER the carpet therefore leaking from under the car! I checked under and i coudnt see any holes or anything i also noticed my passenger sides are a little wet too. While I was checking for holes under the car I notice black rubber circle things that was drawing a little water could this be the problem? Anyone know what it is and how to fix this problem? Gets annoying cuz it starts to smell like a WET DOG inside my car :(

You could pull up your carpet and look at the floor from the inside. I think it would be easier to see from the inside. :thumb:

Common leak sources are the sunroof drains, the rear hatch rubber, clogged hatch drains, loose spoiler, loose rear wiper pass-through, and -likely in your case- coming in around the flow-through ventilation gills at the right-rear of the body.

if its the ventilation gills how would i go around fixing it? and where is it i cant find them anywhere!?! this water is annoying

nope i dont have any rusted floors but im scared it might start forming rust if i dont do anything quick!!

maybe the water is leaking in from where the fuel pump is under the rear passanger side seat. check there.

I bet 10 to 1 your roof rail/seam or windshield is leaking. The water is running down the inside of the A pillar and running onto your floorboards. Mines doing it too. Pull your carpet back and watch while someone holds a hose on the roof seam and windshield seal.

I'm not sure how you fix it yet. I might try a small bead of silicone along the seam to seal it up or take it to a body shop and see what they say.

i know this question has been asked alot but none really seemed to explain how to fix the problem i have water leaking from the roof it leaks on the seats depending on which angle the car is on either the passenger or driver seat and most of the time water sits in the shifter boot if it is the sunroof drains how could i clean them out this is really getting annoying haveing a wet seat is not fun LOL and having rain drip on you while you drive kinda sucks too depending on which way i turn it will come out the passenger or driver side while driving   :barf:

I think your drain holes for your sunroof are clogged. I'm not too sure how to clear them out. People have said they've just blown them out with compressed air.

now i dont believe my sunroof is factory i dont think 90 gsx came with a power sunroof i have one and it is raised not flat to the roof would it still have these drain lines? i see a black tube running down my piller is that the drain tube (inside the car where my gauges r mounted)

update - i ran a piece of wire through the tubes and pured some water down them and they flow fine i should of pured the water down first to see if it was clogged never think of things intill after the fact LOL hopefully no more water its making me nuts

So it rained yesterday and I needed to get my tools out of my eclipse. I open the hatch and the water pours down from the hatch to watever is on my trunk. I'd say about a good half gallon poured right onto my tools. I checked for seals and they all seem fine. This is why all the rust is started in the hatch I believe.

Anybody else have this problem?? And how can i fix it?
