Spyder Hours to do oil pan reseal?

Hey fellas..

So my oil pan is leaking a little and I'm taking it to the mechanic next week to get it resealed. My question is, how many hours of labor I should expect to pay for.

My exhaust was out on with new hardware just a few months ago so getting the down pipe off shouldn't be a problem. I figure and hour maybe? Two hours max?

What do you guys think?

Why not try it yourself? It is an easy job using basic hand tools. Just a tedious one. Ultra grey without a gasket works best for me. The oil pan is designed to be used with sealant only regardless of other opinions. Others will chime in with their opinion, but to each their own. Other items for the job besides RTV of your choice include:

• turbo drain-to-pan gasket
• crush washers for drain-to-pan bolts.

As far as time for the job, I have never taken my cars to a mechanic, so I cannot offer an opinion. I can do it on an AWD in about 1.5 hours taking time to meticulously clean the pan, and properly torquing everything. This is using jack stands and hand tools.It should not see oil at least over night while sealant cures.

I live in an apartmemt and I'm not allowed to do any work to my car in the parking lot and really have no other place to work on it at. Wish I could though man. Thanks for the reply.

Rtv only for sure. If the mechanic is good then an hour I'd assume. If it's longer you're wasting your money.

I did this recently on my awd and a shop wanted to charge me 280$ so it should be significantly less for you. Some key things, make sure an RTV is used. I used The Right Stuff by permatex. No leaks here. Second, out of the 19 oil pan bolts, there are two shorter ones. Those go where the timing belt is and if you dont put those there, a deep groove will be cut into the belt.

Book time is 2.4 hours for turbo cars, add .4 for AWD
