holset oiling thru stock oil feed

hi guys,
Quick question. I've purchased a hx35 with 12cm housing and will it on my stock 1g vr4-rs setup.
before I put it on I wanted to know if I can feed holset off the stock oil feed line (which comes from the head) without restrictor? Or shall I use a restrictor even there?
Appreciate if you could show me the right way

I've had my hx35 with no restrictor feeding off the stock location for 8000 miles now with no ill effects. I also want to point out that I do not have my balance shafts in as well. Oh and nice Colt!

I can say is check your pressure at your head and OFH not every car is the same, dont want to over-run it or under-oil the turbo,

This is your answer, check both with a gauge and see which best fits Holset's technical requirements.

I'd recommend starting with a 4an line from OFH, since you have BS, then put a gauge on it to dial it in with the proper restrictor if you need one.

Not a good idea.

I'd do a filter housing feed, no restrictor, and run a -12AN drain if I were installing one on a stock block. Check the oil pressure- install a restrictor if your pressure exceeds 72psi.
 
how shall i measure my oil pressure to the turbo? should it be after the restrictor and before turbo? or should it be before restrictor and turbo?
 
Tap a gauge right at the oil inlet. You would do it post restrictor but you should do it without one to see what your actual oil pressure is. Then get a proper restrictor. If you have one already, check with the restrictor in to verify that it is within the min-max oil pressure rating.
 
Wouldnt running a banjo at the turbo act somewhat as a restrictor because of the 90 degree angle? What about the clearance between the bolt and the fitting? Im really feeling that this would act as a restrictor. Opinions please. P.S. Sorry to slightly thread jack.
 
I don't think a 90 degree bend would act as a restrictor
a thin feed line might act like that but not a bend

Ok I think I should remove the stock oil light switch install a pipe to turbo and install a T fitting just before the turbo with a NOS jet facing towards ofh, install a pressure gauge and last one will feed turbo
this way I will know the presssure going in the turbo and I can also change NOS jets if pressure is not suitable
stock oil location will b closed
correct?

I've completed my oil line setup.
Its a steel braided pipe(26 inch) coming out from oil switch location and going into a T which has two more holes (all holes are 0.088"). One has a gauge attached other has a 30" pipe going to turbo oil feed location.
Is this correct? I assume there won't b any harm in a 30 inch pipe going to turbo after the restrictor, correct?

It may effect the line's velocity and direct flow of blasting oil directly into the turbo, but I don't think pressure will suffer. Fuel and braking systems have used banjo bolts for years....if pressure would suffer, these would be eliminated.
