Hid ballast

This is probably a silly question, but I know little about HID systems. My car had one on it when I bought it, one of the ballast has went bad and I'm looking for a replacement, I see several but I need to make sure the connecter on the ballast will fit the 9006 connector that my 2g gst has. Also someone told me our cars have reverse polarity when hooking these up is this true??

Try the folks at sharphid.com. They're very helpful and I would guess they have the part you need.

Yes on the polarity, you have to swap the connector around. Either jam it in backwards or take the more elegant route of pulling the pins out of the harness and swapping them.

Swapping the pins is a much better route. I broke a connector trying to force it before I noticed the tab.

Most of the ballast I've found do not state the connector on the ballast as being 9006 or anything. Most I can't tell from the pics either. I really need to fix this.

I got mine from sharp hid and they fit awesome. On their site you can choose which plug style you need. Just order for a 9006 and bam your good to go. You still use the stock harness. Hope this helps any more questions hit me up.

My only problem with sharp hid, is they want 13 bucks to ship to Louisville, ky, Im not with that

Must not be too important if your not willing to put $13 on it to buy from a quality company and get it fixed.

That is one thing I wish John would change, is the whole coming from china issue. But I do understand it is hard to keep everything/kind of plug in stock.

Check out DDMTuning, ive bought and installed 20 or more hid kits from them, in the past 5 years and my oldest set in my trailblazer highs and lows are still shinning as bright as the first day i bought them, lifetime warranty also.

okay so i have read of the reverse polarity issue on eclipses, i was wondering if this is true for a 96 2ga eclipse, and does it apply to only the stock headlights as i have aftermarket ones with h1 bulbs

The car side of the harness has the polarity on the pins opposite from most vehicles. If you plug a HID ballast in, and it doesn't light, try swapping the pins.

In other news, my Sharp HID kit went in the trash. After having the wrong bulbs sent the first time and a bad ballast after less than a year, I'm done dealing with them. I even used dielectric grease to try and seal the ballast better.

You get what you pay for.

My advise, is throw those "plug & play" HID "kits" in the trash. They may produce more light then the stock halogen bubles but its alot of wasted light. The stock reflectors were never designed for an HID bulb, therefore giving you poor light output.

I ran a plug & ply kits for years & to be honest, the light output is still terrible compared to any newer car. Major hot spotting issues & just horrible light uniformaty in general.

If you want HID's, do a retro or get a real kit, with a proper HID projector. Their not that expensive anymore & the difference in performance is night & day.
