2G Heater core/blower motor issue

I'm trying to figure out what's going on. When I turn my dash fan on it doesn't do anything unless I put it on full power which is when it started making a funny noise that sounds kinda like a gas powered generator. If I put it on hot or cold nothing, only the noise on full.


The noise comes from the dash under the airbag area. I was told it's the heater core but I think the blower motor is at fault. Any help would be great, thanks.

Update: I pulled out the blower motor and cleaned out all the gunk and now it can spin freely. The problem is it still only works when the switch is on full blast. I'm not sure why it does that, I figure the switch may be causing this problem but when I tried to pull out the climate control panel it seems wedged and won't come out.

Any help on this would be great.

Based on what you have said so far, I'd start by checking the blower motor resistor. On high your bypassing it.

This right here. 99% of the time when you lose one or more fan speeds it falls on the blower motor resistor.

+3 on fan blower resistor.

Where is the resistor located?

Remove the glove box, and it will be the the middle of your air ducting, right above the blower motor. I's held by one or two phillips head screw.
