i remember when you bought that, the only good thing about them is that the housings are swapable to put on a real 20g. we did that to a locals turbo. He made a lot of power out of the real 20g. he had the godspeed or cxracing or whatever it was boosting around 19 psi for 3 years, but locals also said he changed his oil 2 times in that period which he put 70k miles on it. the turbo still boost, when i took it apart, the shaft was fine on the bearing seats, but the rear seal area wore out really bad and was not rebuildable. it had little shaft play but blew oil.

What dsmonster said is so true, the mitsubishi turbos and design is made to last. I bought one 14b in need of rebuild, it was blowing oil like crazy. I clean it up, used all the original parts. i replaced the rear seal and it didnt have anyshaft play, or blow any oil. It looked like it had 200k on it, but no telling. Not to mention most of these turbos are 20 years old!

I want to take him to vegas too....

As for the everyone and the mother has access to comment.

I have access to 2 different dynos in my province. One is about 3 hours south of me. It is a rwd dyno that the strap another dyno to, to make it awd. A little sketchy for me.

The other is 4 hrs south of me and is an awd dyno but with 91 octane here at 1.40 cdn a liter which works out to $5.30 a gallon cdn. It really doesn't make it worth my while to go there...

So you know, this is my first DSM and 2nd turbo car.with that being said,i have read alot on this site and friends at RRE.With that being said,i learned to make good power without the wideband and i know i need
it to make max hp safe! What i do may not be the best but works fine and it's fun doing it.What's wrong with that?I dont floor it everywhere i go but do drive it hard!

That's like being in a hospital, with a disease or a condition that requires monitoring and refusing to be hooked up to diagnostic machines to monitor pulse, blood pressure, etc. So what happens when a person flat line/cardiac arrest, or anything else? Theres nothing to prompt an alert of this, that's like not monitoring detonation.

Why wouldn't you want to know when you system is failing? That statement above doesn't make any sense in the long run. Details and quantitative data help people tune their cars and monitor what is going on inside. You definitely can make good power without a wideband, but why, if you know its not the best, then are you tuning without one. There are only benefits from having one.

Just like our bodies, we cant tell whats going on inside the engine all the time.

so when the engine finally goes on your car due to not enough or too much fuel, knock, or any lil thing that YOU have "upgraded", remember..."these cars are just POS that cant take the punishment:toobad:" (sarcasm of course).

its people like you that tend to give whats left of your cars bad names.
ether do it right or dont do it at all, but since you did it anyways and wanted to talk about it on a thread then im sure you expected to be laughed at.:thumb:

I tuned it according to the SAFC tuning info found on this webiste less wideband. How am I giving the car a bad name? My car has been running good and there are alot of people running this setup and only changed turbo and have not had any problems. I plan on getting DSMlink soon, but cannot afford it at the moment.

WOW- The SAFC manual tells you how to set up the program...as in how to use the system- not what settings you need to run with what set up and what car you have. You have no way of knowing that the settings you have at the moment are even close to right. Judging by "feel" is half-assed so you really are giving your car a bad name.

You can score a wideband for $150...thats hardly a cash flow issue given the amount of damage that can be done by tuning without one, and seeing how you got a GODSPEED turbo under the hood. I understand some people are really tight on money- so if that was true and still is true then why did you get into this hobby?

Nothing personal against you- just the choices you make towards the car.

^^^ You can run a stock 14b to that boost with your setup in a used 16g 7cm^2 turbine housing and see the same airflow.

You can get a new, real 20g for so little now from FP (with the better compressor cover in size and FMIC pipe fitment) and swap it into a stock 14b turbine housing or snag a used 16g housing for next to nothing. Even get an ebay 16g turbine housing probably for free from a blown ebay 16g. . . . I don't see the point in paying at or over $300 for a knock off.

running a 20g-sized turbo in the mid 15's is completely pointless. I had a Buschur Racing MHI 20g on my talon at 15psi for many months, it only ran 13.6@101mph like that. At that point you're better off staying with a 14b to save money/have even better spool.

The car was a completely different animal when I went to 22psi and ran 14.0@112mph trap (had a messed up shift fork so had to skip 2nd gear).

15-16psi isn't even near the 20g's efficiency area.

I did love my BR20g though, the guy I bought the car from had it forever. It easily had I'm sure like 30-50k miles on it and had no play and was durable as hell, even put up with my idiocy learning about anti-lag.

    Only out $300?

You realize you can get a good condition 16g or perhaps even a 20g used for that price?
Look at some of our freelance vendors... they make great deals on turbos especially 16g's/20g's that they service.

Why do people buy that chinajunk...

Posting is like speaking, you should think before you post.

300 for a potential paper weight, okay. 300 for a turbo that last a year, so thats 25 bucks a month to run that turbo if it fails at the one year mark.

I wish I had 300 to piss away.....I would probably buy a snuggy and other sh*t I dont need. better yet take that 300 buy a blown MHI turbo and pay someone to teach you how to rebuild one.

Still better off with a 14b. I went 14.1 @ 113 on my 14b at 20 psi on full weight, street tires FWD and then 13.1 @ 110 same setup with drag radials. That was with a non rebuilt 14b I bought from the classifieds for $100 shipped.

I've had my genuine godspeed 20g for over 2 years on +20psi, still holding up imo its a good turbo.:hellyeah: also well into the low 12s at sea level...but that kid that has no supporting mods is BSing.

Because these jerk off's are doing nothing but copying someone else's hard work. Having some shop in china reverse engineer the turbo, manufacture them using inferior materials and damn near slave labor. Some kid is probably getting his ass whooped everyday because he's not meeting their quota.

And BTW this turbo is not manufactured by GodSpeed in any shape or form. If I'm not mistaken, absolutely nothing is manufactured by GodSpeed. They are simply drop shipping parts, undercutting legitimate vendors trying to make a quick buck. This greatly discourages the investment and r&d good vendors/companies are willing to put out to develop new products.
