Hello,

So i discovered I had a leak in my exhaust manifold where it bolts to the motor. Ended up pulling everything and two of the bolts snapped (ARP) where the manifold meets the turbo housing. I tried everything to get them out but they were too low inside the housing to do much with. Ended up drilling the first hole and got the bolt out and can retro it. Due to the angle and trying to drill out the second one I’m now not lined up and won’t be able to tap the hole.

Can I weld these holes over and re tap them without it being an issue? Option two I guess would be getting a new hot side, can I go with any td05 7cm? This might be a time to go with an external gate or I change complete directions and go bigger turbo.

Thanks everyone and happy holidays

I don’t thread anything into them once that happens. I redrill holes and use m8 bolts and nuts. That way when (not if) they seize, I just break them in half with a breaker bar.

going to try taking the housing off tomorrow without while leaving the turbo in place. Might go get the holes welded and then ill just redrill them out and potentially do an external gate at the same time (weld the flapper closed).

If you ever run into something like this again, get someone with a tig to weld a nut to the broken piece, the extreme heat will almost always allow you to get them out without drilling.

Also, never use ARP turbo bolts, this is a very common issue with them. OEM is your best bet with high nickel anti-seize.

Welding/redrilling/tapping the holes should be fine, worst case the housing could crack down the road.

one of the holes is a blind hole and can't have a nut on it.
