So I've been battling building a 420a that I have thousands of dollars in. I have had the car for 3 years and still have yet to daily drive it. I rebuilt the motor time and time again then bought a motor with all forged internals then contemplated the turbo set up and tuned and everything else that comes with making a decent HP car.

I finally gave up on that dream, I got blessed to find a very high HP GST in my price range that's absolutely a beautiful car just gotta start the rebuild on the motor. I don't want to cut corners on this car so tips would be great on how I should build this car for a lot of reliable power. Thanks in advance.

Just got to pick this up needs to be put back together. Who built it didn't go cheap Greddy everything, I'm in heaven

Don't hold out on us, setup a vehicle profile and start a build thread so we can all share in your joy. If you want a reliable build with good street power for a fwd, look up 16g builds here.
You'll still likely have a 2nd gear (and 3rd potentially) traction issue without some investment in suspension but with a boost control solenoid and link, you can bring the boost on more slowly around peak torque and rip er later. The 16g comes on so hard and fast it will easily shred tires when left to its own devices at 21+psi

Thank you I will start a building thread on it I'm super excited and poor LOL but I definitely want to share this build with the DSM family and I'll be asking a lot of questions along the way.

Thanks I can tell that came with it is the electronic Greddy boost controller, a HKS blow off valve, a Turbonetics turbo, nitrous, and 546/547 Web cams.
 
So I bought a 95 GST. The motor was tore down due to low compression on cylinder 2. As I looked through the parts I'm missing the throttle body, the elbow intake tube, MAF sensor, and air filter.

This is my first GST ever so I'm not an expert in them. I'm doing a motor rebuild and help would be great.

It has 85mm JE forged pistons and rods, a Venom intake manifold, 750cc injectors, Turbonetics turbo, HKS blow off valve, 546 547 Web cams, Greddy electronic boost controller, and a tunable AEM ECM with computer cable.

Can someone give me suggestions on what throttle body I should get and any references on the parts I'm missing
 
So is it safe to run the throttle body off my intercooler that's how the previous set up seems to have went I have one pipe coming into the engine bay by where the original air filter should be but the car is missing some piping so I'm assuming they had it ran to the throttle body which is also missing this is my first gst so please help

- Air cleaner and pipe to inlet of the turbo
- turbo outlet to the intercooler inlet
- intercooler outlet to the throttle body.

How that piping looks and is routed will depend on your setup. It will be routed the same, just may look different.
 
I'll take some as soon as I get off work I've just seen a lot of them with the MAF sensor and filter set up but my outlet is ran to the inside of the passenger fender where the normal air filter set up would be

Man I feel stupid I figured it out LOL can you tell I never worked on a gst
 
Glad you got it taken care of. All vehicles will have the same basic plumbing path. Filtered air to the turbo/supercharger, then that compressed (heated) air gets routed to something to cool it (intercooler, ice bath, something), and from there the now-cooler air goes to the intake. There are different designs and things incorporated (twin turbos, or multi-stage turbos, or bleed air systems...) but the basics of the air charge system are the same... clean it, compress it, cool it, use it, exhaust it.
 
BTW - that mansplain wasn't necessarily for you, but for anyone who looks at this thread who may not be familiar with forced induction and for whom the intake piping is a mystery. There are many configurations for our cars, so pics and youtube videos don't always help. Just wanted to jot down the basics so folks can hopefully noodle it out.

TB recommendations - that depends on your setup. The stock TB is good for most streetable setups. Best if you give us a thorough description of your setup and/or power/driving goals.
 
I would run a stock TB also. To many leaks/headaches about others and I was over 600hp on a 1gTB.
 
So I'm not too familiar with a GST but I bought my first one recently and it needs a motor rebuild. It was missing a bunch of parts, I have gotten a lot of what it needs but I haven't gotten a throttle body and I'm not sure what all I can use. I have a venom sheet metal intake so I'm not positive if I need all the vacuum lines that an original has or not?

It also has a stand alone AEM computer in it that I have never had pleasure dealing with before so not sure what has been deleted from the system and what hasn't.

Any help on a throttle body assembly would be greatly appreciated

Rather than jump around with multiple threads it can be helpful to stick to one so everyone has history and can move forward instead of asking the same questions over and over.

What vacuum lines you'll need will come into play as you get farther along. Typically, you need lines for your BOV, Fuel Pressure Regulator, the EGR system, the vapor recovery system, your boost controller/wastegate, MDP since there isn't a spot in the manifold, and the brake booster. You may decide not to have all of these as you start building.

On a stock car some of these would be from the TB and some from the IM.
 
All the parts that came with it are far from stock, I don't believe there was anything stock about it.

From the person who built it it has the JE 85mm pistons and h beam rods as internals. It's been re sleeved and the head has had work. It has the Web 546 and 547 cams, the HKS waste gate, Turbonetics turbo, 750 cc injectors, the venom intake manifold, the AEM computer system has the Greddy turbo timer also had a small nitrous bottle that injected into the intercooler.

I'm wanting to achieve a decent power the previous owner said it was 600hp once built. I want to tone it down a bit and be in the high 300s low 400s HP. The things that were missing was, the cash housing box and all the piping the throttle body is gone. It has no coils or plugs, oil pan was missing intake, MAF sensor was missing and one rocker arm was missing. I've gotten a lot of things for it such as a Cometic head gasket, an oil pan, lower and upper gasket kits, new piston rings, Clevite 77 rod bearings. I have a CAS housing, rocker arm, and BOV coming for it. Just looking for a good throttle body set up and the piping from the throttle body to the intercooler which my intake pipe enters through the passenger side fender area
