Found a use for JB Weld... finally!

So i was piecing together my BLT kit (u kno lettuce baconz and tomats) and between autostone and home de-pothead (haha) I was able to find a $2 shower drain, a $3 pack of 2 2" valve stems, a $5 guage (at $10 now...) and not wanting to particularly splurge... I was thinking about siliconing a plastic back from the inside, then i thought, wait a minute, whats like a really tough sealant epoxy that thinks it is strong as a weld... JB WELD mofoka! Its only been 2-3 hours, and this stuff is pretty frikkin hard. Its def air tight. and it can hold ~25 psi. ( i didnt try more, its still maleable). So for all of you jb weld lovers out there, here is something that it could definately do, besides holding your doors on of course

Rtv works a lot better for that.

Mine needs a gauge.... I didn't even think to put one on it. I just use my boost gauge. Useing a 3" PVC end cap, 3" pvc coupler, and a 3-2.5" reducer on mine. And a valve stem from a local tire shop. Total cost was 8$ plus the jb weld I allready had.

Damn stuff has 1000 uses. I fixed a throttle body elbow with it, radiator, ac condensor, oil pan, o2 overflow, etc etc over the years.

Rtv works a lot better for that.

it was a shower drain, holes on the end and everything. I figgured it could use more rigidity. I got a tube of rtv in the event of leaks.

harder than a rock and air tight.

I've patched up muffler leaks with JB Weld ... and have seen external cracks in blocks sealed up with the stuff as well..

I use JB Weld (epoxy) for a lot of things. How many of you have had a 2g power window/lock assembly fall in the door?

Well when that happens, the 4 mounting points (little plastic tubes) are brittle and falling apart. My fix, fill the hole with the epoxy, put the screw in so it has a thread pattern and then slather the stuff all around it and the post. When it's dry, I have a new mounting post.

In your case, RTV would have worked just as fine and I would test the tester when you do a pressure test to make sure that it in itself isn't leaking from the patch work.

jb weld also works well for reforming wheel lips if you've curb rashed them. being easy to mold, sand and it holds paint pretty well

My question is.
I have a punshment intercooler. Now for those who run a greddy bov it's really close to the hood and even bumps it if your motor mounts are bad enough.
I have never used jb weld, loctite epoxy weld, or steel stick.
I'm planning to cut the bov pipe shorter so I can mount it lower to the pipe.
I read loctite weld claims to hold 900 psi Which one is best? Or will jb weld do it's job? Or save it for the shop?

Take it to a shop and let them weld it.

Take it to a reputable shop for sure. It won't take them very long at all and shouldn't cost much if you have the parts ready to go.
