Hey guys I might be getting a good deal on an evo 8 turbo and just want some links to where people adapted them to their DSM's. I can fabricate and all that jazz so thats not really a big deal. I was just hoping to get some ideas before I jumped in and started to make different things. Thanks. -Matt

Not to be a dick or anything, but you know their turbo is backwards right (compared to ours)? Their intake side is on the driver's side of the car. So you would have to make room for an intake, fabricate an exhaust manifold and reroute your 02 and downpipe. Doing all that would add up to a lot of money and might not make your good deal on the evo 8 turbo such a good deal. Just a thought. I'm not saying don't do it or anything, ### that would be pretty unique, just that it would be costly and difficult.

well he could turn it around.. doesnt look hard.. youll need a cheap evo 8 o2 housing (an SS ebay one) to weld up etc,

if you have the time..go for it

Just buy an Evo III 16g or something. Trying to fabricate/modify a turbo that wasn't made for our cars is senseless.

I think as long as he can make an exhaust manifold and 02 housing fairly cheap it would be worth it, its a great twin scroll turbo. The exhaust manifold would have to extend pretty far out closer to the radiator, because if you turn the turbo around the bulge on the turbine housing is gonna be going in towards the engine and not towards the front of the car like on the evo 8. Kinda hard to describe what im talking about so you can check out a link to a pic of the turbo if you want.

I have an Evo VIII,
for a short time we were discussing using that turbo / manifold on our 97GSX project car. In the end it was just easier to go with a new turbo / manifold.
I always kinda regretted not manning up and doing the install. Hope this works out well for you.

Thats for the info guys, but I know all about how the turbo sits and the differetn flanges and welding and all that fabrication stuff is cake for me. Im not worried about it. I just thought seeing a finished product would make it even easier. I turboed my old 420A using the stock manifold and custom 02 housing I made along with my own DP and IC piping. I l ove this stuff, its entertaining to me. Not work. This is no where near the price of a evo III so that why Im thinking about it. Also the twin scroll is appealing as well. Ill keep you guys posted...DSMLINK is on the way to so well see whats going down.
