Evo 8-10 Brembo Calipers DSM Conversion (for 1g too)

If the wheels are close, a spacer is not a bad idea. However, more than 20mm spacers is too harsh on the wheel bearing.

The spacer does not affect the wheel bearing; it’s the final offset with the spacer that does. Try to keep the keep the final offset to be over + 30 to reduce stress on the wheel bearing.

I saw a post by KMV I believe saying if you are 22 mm from your stock calipers to the spokes on your rims you should be ok. Double and triple checking mine I come up with about 17-18 mm. Would I be ok with a 10 mm spacer or should I go with a 5 mm? The rims are 17". The offset is actually 40 for the RSF-2 rims, found it stamped on the back of the rim.

Also is there hardware that go with these calipers? The only thing I got where the calipers themselves.

My suggestion to you is mount every thing on and put some washer on the hub to simulate the spacer. Then get the correct spacer needed, I say 5mm might be good enough. The kit will include all the bolts needed.

No, because 3g eclipse had to use spacer when they did the evo brembo swap with there stock 17" wheels.

If you want to run this setup with 17" rims, you need to run atleast a 8" width. Evo wheels are 17" x 8". ## offset will also affect this too so remember to get the correct offset.

Maybe eventually KMV will create a blow with all the necessary information for this upgrade as far as cost of his kits, all of em, along with what the minimum wheel size, width included, and offset information. I would be willing to help you too KMV if you needed the help with the blog. Pics of the kits along with pics of the install process for both 1g and 2g and what is needed to be done to both for the evo brembo and ctsv calipers, and a finished product installed. Just an idea if you wanted to do that.

You don't need 8" width as long its 17" and clears the caliper then its good,I have 17x7" that clears, its off set was +35. There is no rules to if tell if a wheels fit or not. You just have to try and find out. If it fit on an evo 8-10 then it will 99% fit on our dsm. If the offor set is between + 30 and +40 then it has a good chance of clearing the calipers. However the shape of the rim is more important than the offset. Of course flat and thin-spoke rims would have best clearance. If you going with this big brake upgrade be prepare to get new wheels or use spacers with your current 17”. I’m current work on a tech article on this install and will post it up soon.

So i dont need a spiral point tap. Good. Those are expensive. Have you ever ordered from them before? How long did it take to get your stuff?

I've ordered from them several times. Shipping is pretty fast and reasonably priced.

The m14x1.5 tap normally comes in a set at a big retailer. A set goes about $50-80 and comes with like other 50pc.
Here's another way of mounting the calipers\brackets for 2g. Might not be worth while if you own a 2ga because you have to grind the knuckles to swing the bracket into place.

<a href="http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/thk_photos/?action=view&current=alt4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/thk_photos/alt4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><a href="http://s980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/thk_photos/?action=view&current=alt3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae289/thk_photos/alt3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Here you can see I did over grinded the knuckles because I it did very quickly to show an alternative method.
The bracket was over built so you could trim off some metal off the bracket to reduce grinding to the knuckles.

Here's some updated pictures on how it would look like on the 97+ knuckles after the grinding and final stage.

These are redi4axion's pictures and and I think these are evo 8 wheels.

You have those brackets on two ways? Does it matter which way we put it on. I havent done the brackets yet. ###### put them on tomorrow or def tuesday. I get my brembos back from a metal stripper tomorrow and ill powdercoat them tomorrow night.

Either way is fine. With the caliper\bracket clocked upward, the grinding job will be a bit harder thought. Also have to port\mill out the bleeder end of the caliper instead of the end with the looping tube. Plus you have to tap the top ear and use one Allen bolt for the caliper instead of hex head bolt.

907dsm, those 1g brembo pic are coming soon, in the meantime some more 2g pics to get you jealous. :p

There's nothing wrong about using spacer as long as there done right. These are 17 mm thick to give my + 55 rims a +38 offset.

I think these are the biggest tire you can put on 2g before fender rolling. As these 245/40/18 fit with barely any clearance left.
