Evo 8-10 Brembo Calipers DSM Conversion (for 1g too)

I could answer that for him. He didn't mess around and slap on some evo 9 wheels, their +38. Just get some used stock or aftermarket wheels from the evo guys and there guarantee to clear those brembos.

Great Job and thank you so much for posting those pics Jason.:thumb: You also prove that you could use 1g lines instead 2g banjo lines even though the 2g lines would fit a bit nicer. We were informed that you had to upgrade 2g lines for 1g to 2g calipers upgrade, guess you could use 1g lines for that too. According to those pics, I think the 1g install could be the easest out of all DSM.

Yeah. It really wasn't a bad install. Just remember to mount the calipers so that the bleeders point upwards. I wasn't paying attention and originally ground the wrong side of the caliper down and bolted them upside down.

The grinding down was easy with my cheapo black and decker cutting wheel. I just cut the ridge out, and basically used the cutting wheel as a grinding wheel to remove the material so that it cleared the knuckle ear.
The wheels are stock EVO IX wheels painted black. > as KMV says... +38 offset/17x8" clears fine.

I ground a little tiny bit down on the casting at the bottom of the top knuckle ear so that the adapter bracket would swing down and sit flush against the knuckle ear.

Tapping the ear was easy. So really bolting the brakes up was no problem.

As for the brake lines> I originally had 2G calipers on the car with stock 2G brake lines. I bought 1G AWD SS lines from ExtremePSI and they hooked up without any issues to the Evo calipers.

I want to get this 100% for a 1g

I will be running evo 8 or 9 rims. What do I need to get so I can put it all on in one shot? I read the whole thread but just want to make sure. I guess im just confused cause there is soooo much info and some of it is no good.

Cant remember who had them but they were TRD rims. Someone from WI. I work at a Toyota dealership so I can get any TRD rim. Just a heads up for those people who want to take on the CTS-V brakes and need 18 in rims.

kmv could u post up more pics of the orange 2g with the 17mm spacers. but from the front and sides at a further distance

The silver piece in the center of the rotors is the 17mm spacer.

You could see the spacer in between the rims in these pic.

bad ass. if u could put one from the front view of the side so i can see how much more they would stick out.

Sorry this is the only pic i have for now. I running really fat tires(245) and it doesn't stick out of the fender at all for all corners. btw I'm using these spacer not for clearing the brembos but for clear the tires with the inner arms. I think the rims i got are meant for big brakes at +55 et it still clear the brembos but wouldn't clear the control arms though.
So the style of your rims is the more important factor for clearing calipers then offset # but lower offset does help..

alright. cool they dont look that far out but im still not sure yet.

is it possible to grind down the rims spokes a bit so they could fit.

Don't do that you will unsafely weaken your rims. If you really wanted to see how your wheels would look with 20mm spacer just put some temporary washer in between the rims and rotors.

idk if i would like the look on them i would need 19mm at least figure if i could grind the spokes about 8 or 9mm safely and get them paint the back so u cant see it. and then put a 10mm spacer. idk if it can be done

yeah i tried something like that and the rim almost comes off the lug. .

also would a 19x7 -042 offset fit??

ok im thinking of getting new rims.. i found them for a 2006 mitsubishi evo. the dimensions are 18x8.5 35 offset. would that fit? its says its fits an evo so it must fit an eclipse right? with clearance for the calipers

or ### about 18 x 8 with 35 offset

If it fits the evo then it will fit our DSM because everything is revolve around the evo rotors which is used for this swap.

ok cool.. they said they guarrentee fitment on the car. . i hope so.. but first i have to sell my rims.. dammit!!!! :(

Anyone tell me how to measure the offset on my rims, I am looking into heavily getting some fronts for my gsx, backs later on.... Just not sure how to measure if they would fit, or the offset for that matter. May just take a trip to belle tire and ask them how to measure for the offset and stuff. If not spacers and ext'd studs here i come :D

look up your rims online by brand. . if they are anything in the 40's i doubt they fit. if they are in the 30's they have a good chance

offset is a 40, so probably a no go without a spacer.... hmm time for evo rims maybe!

try to sell your rims.. just look for rims under a 2006 evo and they will fit without a spacer but check the offset

and u can try a spacer and they might fit. maybe like 8mm spacer.

Think I will try a spacer first, then if that don't work I will get some Rota D2's for an evo.

heres some pics of my swap but i ran into a problem, my caliper its hitting the rotor in the inside part of it, i think the rotor its no center with the caliper or vice versa.
sorry for the pics kmv if u see anything wrong in the pics let me know and thanks for your help.

note both sides are doing the same thing in the same place

By the looks of those pics, he didn't use the spacers I gave him. Actually he did but he put them on but the wrong side. Its pretty obvious that there surpose to go in between the calipers and brackets, dont know how he miss that. If you can't tighten the 2 bolts on the calipers then I'm sure thats you problem. I could be wrong because those pics are pretty bad,we need clearer pics.

Its those round spacer on the top of the bracket in this pic that I'm talking about.
