Either I'm completely confused, or these brackets don't work.

This is how the bracket should bolt up, correct? My issue is the lower ear that I tapped isn't lining up with the bracket. The bracket hits the knuckle preventing it from swinging completely in to place.

:hmm: is that a 97 2g knuckles? here's a picture of a 95-96 2g knuckles, anybody knows if 2g comes with different knuckles throught out 95-99? i think you could safely grind away part of the knuckles and bracket to swing the bracket fully in. I think that the 97 knuckles are over casted at the bottom campare to the 95-96 so you could grind away about 3/8" off the casting to make it look like 95-96 knuckles.

Vette your right that is a stretch. If you mill it correctly could have up to 0.6" of minimum thickness left on both the x and 8 calipers. That is thicker than most radial mount caliper's aluminum bracket. Here I got 0.529" left and that’s with extra clearance. Even if I punch that section through I still have tons of solid aluminum left to support the calipers let alone cracking. You don't have to tap the knuckles and could use a nut If it was punch through thought. If you want to keep the resale value of your calipers then I recommend get it mill. If I repaint these calipers up and resell it, the person buying won't even thought that it was hacked.LOL

I just picked up these 08 sti bss so I can fit evo x calipers on finaly. They don't look that great but light forged BBS wheel w good tires for $800 i couldn't pass that deal up. With these light rims and aluminum hat rotors I sould have little to no weight gain after the big brake upgrade. Who says big brake upgrade is bad on proformance, it isn't when you have money to make it up some where else.:p
If any one like to try these sti BSS they are 18x8.5 with 245/40/18 tires weigh 18lb 55 et custom spacer will be needed to adapt them on DSM with brembo. Anybody know what's the stock 16" or 17" weigh?

The STI wheels will not work. The lug spacing is correct if you have the 5x114.3 ones, but the center bore is wrong. It's smaller than a mitsu's. That and it's got an offset of 53mm

They are the original 97 GSX knuckles.

Ok, I did some research apparently the 97 and up knuckle casting is bit different, seems like they over cast the bottom part. Here a good shot of the newer 2g knuckles. So if you grind away the section circle in yellow than it will be the same as the earlier knuckles. sorry that i never caught this and hope this will help complete your install. btw you don't have to grind the knuckles to make it like the 95-96 one just enough so the bracket could swing into place would be best.

There is a couple of Talon's and GSX's with bbs from 05 up Sti's. I think they look pretty damn sexy honestly.

I had custom 15mm Hub Centric spacer made to go with sti wheels so the smaller center bore is not an issue and the offset on the 08 sti bbs is 55mm. 55-15=40mm ideal offset to clear brembo on 18x8.5" rims with 245\40 tires.

Does anyone know is my 18X8 +35 wheel will clear the Evo Brembo's? I need to know for sure.

No body will give you straight unless they know the exact rims you got and have tried them on. It all really depends on the style of spokes of your rims more than offset number. For example the Evo x stock rims 18x8.5" 38mm offset will clear perfectly.
I clear with +40 mm offset and with ~ 5mm of clearance left over on 18x8.5". I say you have a 90% chance of passing.

Can you PM me some info on those spacers?? I need some ;).

Anyway of fixing the bracket for the 97-99 so we dont have to cut away the knuckle?

Unfortunately there is no fix but if you look at in a postive way, its actually a good thing. The 97-99knuckles has a fat bottom which is useless removing some of the casting will help lose some unsprung weight. Here's a knuckles I borrow from a friend that shave down his knuckles for the old version of the bracket, side by side comparison.

That only works for 1g because there knuckles is symmetrical from top to bottom. The top for 2g has worst clearance than the bottom, it might be possible but you have removed a chunk out of the top of the knuckle for clearance. here you can see how much more top and bottom clearance the 1g has over 2g.
I have a spare 2g knuckles laying around I might just cut the top to see how it might look if the bracket was flipped.

Thanks. Has anyone put on the stock 97-99 GSX wheels to see if they clear? Im thinking they dont but... If not, im test fitting a side tomorrow.

They do not. You need a LOT of brake clearance under the spoke of the wheels for the fronts.

You will need to run wheels that fit on Evos. I think it was somewhere between 1 and 2.5 inches of more clearance. 10 mm is definately not enough.

Well I got my front and rear Evo 9 calipers for the wifes 97'. I am having series doubt that they will fit under the Enkei RSF-2 rims. What is the publics thought on using spacers for the rims? From the searching I did I came up with a +42 offset.

My previous wheels were 18x7.5 +42 and were far from clearing. Evo wheels (which barely clear) are 17x8 +38. You will want to find wheels that work on Evos (though they often go with more aggressive wheels because they can clear them) and use that as references.

If the wheels are close, a spacer is not a bad idea. However, more than 20mm spacers is too harsh on the wheel bearing.

Edit: Corrected offset.
