Well I'm looking for an intercooler upgrade and the vrsf 2g short route caught my eye. Then I was looking through eBay and found a kit that looks to be the exact same thing. But for a good bit less Bolt on 38x10x4" Aluminum Bar Plate Intercooler Piping 95 99 Eclipse DSM 2G 4g63 | eBay

238$OBO!! vs the 309$ from "vrsf" yes it is missing one coupler and its not pre drilled but dam for 71$ less I can drill 2 holes but a better quality coupler

I'm assuming there all the same cores vrsf, ssac, speed daddy, deep stage garage ect.. Just some are missing a coupler.

Vrsf plowing us for 71$ because they added a coupler and changed up some mounting tabs?
What's your thoughts

I think you also get with VRSF, peace of mind, as well as supporting them.

Exactly. And that there is customer support from them. The lower you climb down the ladder on price the less customer support you have which probably won't be needed in this case but if something comes in damaged or missing you're likely up shits creek and won't hear anything back from them.

I would go with Vrsf cause it's been proven. The quality of couplers and clamps is highly recommended!!! Try doing some searches on here and see how many people are stranded on the road due to blown couplers. Just my two cents.

Peace of mind, I've never personally delt with them besides a pm(that was never answered...) but from what I've seen yes ,if there's a problem they will make it right but I've also seen then then to take for ever to get ahold of(if they actually answer your pm) and have a slower turn around time . As for supporting them I do support the venders (extreme psi ,forced proformance ect) but that price difference makes it seem like they raping us unlike giving us discounts ,fast shipping, ect the other venders provide.:toobad:

Those look to be really cheap crappy couplers. They don't look to even have any reinforcement fibers in them. You'll end up spending $30 or more to replace them right away. The VRSF couplers are pretty nice and worth the extra cost. They are spiral wound and fiber reinforced silicone. I think they are 4 ply.
VRSF also gives you the choice of BOV flanges and depending on what turbo you have the necked down inlet may have to be cut off and you'll end up buying a $50 90 coupler the right size anyways.
Besides all that VRSF are a supporting member on here. They also have had special pricing several times for DSMtuners members. Send them an email or PM and maybe they could help you out. :thumb:

If you are going to complain about a $71 difference. I wouldnt answer your PM's either.

On a positive note. I blew it, I cheaped out a few days ago instead of buying faithfully from my favorite vendor STM. I bought an injen intake from amazon for alittle bit less, thinking man I am going to save 80 bucks. What arrived was absolute BS. It was an intake for a 420A, without all the complete stuff for it at that, insult to injury it was in the 4g63 intake's box. 10 mins later I went on STM's website and ordered through them. Left with another valuable lesson. You get what you pay for, support your vendors because they will take care of you, the world of DSM's are not for the light of pocket.

If I'm not mistaken vrsf(also ssac) started as eBay seller before becoming a vendor here(some one had to try it so they can be "proven") .. As for the quality of the couplers that could be a possibility but even then with the price difference I can buy all new couplers and clamps from extremepsi have $$ left over and use the eBay ones to play ring toss with.. As for blow couplers SD my friend it's a wonderful thing...

I'd like to add driving with a blown coupler on speed density can over work your turbo I know this. only saying this to be used a limp home mode .

The pm was not related to the price difference..

Vrsf is 3ply ,it would be 62.90 for all -4-ply extreme psi couplers and all new stainless t clamps(assuming both were unusable) still 10$ cheaper all this assuming you used the buy it now options not make and offer and get it for cheaper.

-The ebay couplers ply isn't stated-

Sounds like you didant confirm what part you were buying not a "you get what you pay for"

Look again. The ad says 4" thick.

Ive had greddy, vrsf and now ETS and.... Nothing compares to ETS

The ebay one probably isnt what its advertised for, but ill point out for a bolt on option there are no bolt holes drilled in the mounting brackets. There is a restriction in one of the pipes making it not 2.5". And those couplers look like shit.

I Believe they count the thickness of the mounting brackets read the description it's 3.5 core. I know the holes arnt drill ,stated that in first post and I'm sure the couplers arnt the greatest. As for ets being the best intercooler I noticed your not making a ton of power if you avatar is up to date and what do you base this off? You loging an iat ,spool time, ease of instillation what?
(I'm not saying there a bad core , just curious of what your basing that statement off )

14 day return policy on there ebay

Chances of them abiding by it? Slim...

They all know there way around ebay so their tricks get them the most profit. Most people will just say EFF it if something comes in missing and buy the piece elsewhere and not spend $50+ shipping the whole kit back to them in hopes of getting their money back since you would now be out $50 since they sure aren't covering the return shipping.

That dyno result was on 22 psi a while ago. things have changed a bit but im on the bolt on housing im on 30psi now and closer to mid 500 id say. but havent hit the dyno.now and seitching to t3 next week. I am on speed density so of course im logging everything especially iat and boost..... I have a 4" thick ets core and my iata are 5-10 above ambient in traffic conditions. I dont get above that even after 1st through 4th in pulls. The iats actually decrease.

Ill be at the trac on the 7th on the bolt on housing to get numbers for that setup before i slap on the t3 stm manifold and bep.70 housing.

You couldn't be making much more or probably even close to what my last dyno run was with your 14b.

Well that's iat for the ets now what were your iat with the vrsf? Can't compare with only one side .. And I haven't updated my profile I'm now running a hx35 Externally gated Ect .

I was seeing 20* -25*above ambient with the vrsf so in a 70* hot summer day in washington iats were 95*

Ets was installed when it was a little colder but today for instance in canada it was about 40* and i was seeing iats of around 50 in traffic. 43-46 while IN boost. Its just a far superior intercooler.

Got an exhaust header from Speed_Daddy. Not a bad header, bolted up to the motor fine, but the brackets that hold header/downpipe did NOT line up at all.

In other words, you get what you pay for.

Save $71 dollars, then in a few weeks make a thread on how that ebay seller sucks. Then a product review. Then eventually go buy a ETS FMIC kit.

The vrsf welds have so many discontinuities it sickens me. Looks like a highschooler welded it.

Now look at ETS

Perfect gas coverage and flawless welds that are CONSISTANT, have excellent contour, and perfect blending on the toe of the welds! The core design is much better IMHO. The metallurgical properties of the ETS aluminium is also much higher quality than that of the Chinese and out sourced products.

Its almost a shame to run it and risk rock chips and road salt....:(

^Very nice I'm going with the ETS Street FMIC after I'm done with this Auto GST

Yeah support a company that doesn't support us and talks shit about us refusing to make any parts for us. Go ETS or punishment racing. Both have been around a long time and continue to release new products for us and actively support us. VRSF ftl.

We're getting a little off topic comparing an 1000$ intercooler to a 2-300$ as for the weld yea good looking welds are nice but that does not directly affect the preformance . I'm asking about the vrsf intercooler or "vrsf look alike"

A weak weld could mean the difference between the end-tanks blowing off at 14 psi or holding through 22 psi and beyond. But that is merely my opinion Can somone back this up with fact?

:dsm:

Go with the real VRSF, dont waste your hard earned money on the work you've put into your car.

Yeah. I had a buddy with a slow boy racing fmic and blew his end tank at 28psi with an scm6162. Had to reweld.

An intercooler is a pressure vessel of course good welds matter.. Ets also makes intercoolers that are smaller and cheaper that will still outflow the vrsf and im sure eapecially a chinabay core If you want details about that contact ets cause i dont have experience with any other ets dmic than the biggie. It always comes down to you get what you pay for, yes some have made 600 hp on a vrsf but that could be the luck of the draw, and most likely heat soaked to shit. The turbo side of my intercooler end tank was always warm with the vrsf. Ets its cold as ice.

My core alone is 499 you could make your own pipes?

The 7" is 349 for the core alone
The kit is 700
