I am currently looking for a new suspension set up. I'm not rich and can't afford the pricey 1k+ setups by Tein, Ksport, JIC, etc.

I found this set of coilovers produced by E-Motor USA for 380 USD and 350 USD on ebay:
Mitsubishi Eclipse Coilovers 95-99 (Non-adjustable)

They look to be designed much similar to the other companies that make coilovers (Tein, Ksport, JIC, etc.) Except you can't adjust the dampening, camber, caster, or toe; just the height and pre-load.

Do you guys think this will crap out on me? The seller said that it doesn't have an upper spherical bearing, but a bushing.

I don't know what more to say. They look kinda promising and it comes with spanner wrenches, so that's a plus :thumb:

Mitsubishi Eclipse Coilovers 95-99 (Non-adjustable)

Welcome to E-MOTOR

Install Guide: I don't know about you guys, but it seems that the springs seem a little short when installed. It could just be me though.

Let me know what you guys think. I'll be the guinea pig for y'all if you convince me enough.

That "rattle" is coming from the pillowball mount area.

If you look underneath the top mount, you will see the underside of the pillow ball mount and what is causing that rattle is this "silver aluminum threaded disk" becoming loose.

I don't know the exact term for it, but it has four holes for you to tighten it down,.

When you adjust the height and stuff, the "silver aluminum threaded disk" gets loose as you turn the locking rings and that is what is causing the rattle.

Today, I just tightened the, "silver aluminum threaded disk" and I put blue loctite on the threads so it won't get loose again.

WARNING: For those who are buying these, from the box, disassemble the coilover and put loctite in the "silver aluminum threaded disk" to prevent the annoying uneasy PITA rattle.

The design of these coilovers aren't that great. That "silver aluminum threaded disk" is pretty dumb. My friend noted, that his pillowball mount on his STANCE coilovers was just bolted down by the screw on top. The EMOTOR uses a "silver aluminum threaded disk."

Honestly, if I had a chance to go back in time, I wouldn't buy them.

I'd actually like to see a full review of them myself. Some of us limited cash folks need the cheaper parts LOL. Seems like they are working good so far, besides some minor little things.

Looks good man. I would have went for them to. It looks like a decent setup but you can never really tell until you get your hands on them. I look forward to the follow review post.

I would like to say my son has just bought the e-motor usa shock/coilover assembly for his 95 gst. He too was concerned about quality but after receiving they look real good and extremely well built. Fit and finish are high quality and look like they cost much more. They do look as good as the pics posted here. The shaft diameter is larger than stock and the pillow block tops are real sweet too. I don't know if they are rebuildable or not but look like they could be. The shipping weight was about 47 lbs and took about a week to get if that's any help. They will be installed after new paint and new engine so it's a ways off. So can't say how they perform. Sorry to say they are made in China. Hope this is a help.

This is a great help.
I am too is concerned about the quality.

I'm pretty sure the bump and bald tires are to blame. Your new suspension can't perform to it's fullest if it's shoes are bald.

Been about 6 months guys what the verdict? I know that meliketoball said he regret. But when I was into the honda scene. I really think that Megan was a cheap brand and none of their parts ever touched my civic until I came here and then many said they had quality parts. Similar how many in this thread said Ground Control was for honda's and then many read threads later, people claimed GC and koni's was the best suspension they ever used.
But yes, many of us are not rich and don't have $15/ $20 jobs... though I'm close. So sometime the items THAT JUST CUT IT will have to do! But if little things that could be swap out to make it better, why not!

I know exactly what you are saying. Everyone has to start somewhere. It was the same with Buddy Club, and they blew up.

Yup, have had mine for a good 4 months, i like them. Good upgrade for sure solid feel and can corner tighter not to mention the ride height. Get em

PM me for questions

Any updates on these? Thinking about maybe picking some up. How low can you go? Does anybody have any pictures of their car with them on?

If you read thru the post and check out everyone profile who bought them, they are no longer running the coilovers including the OP. If that doesnt tell you stay away nothing will. So go ahead and buy them.

Well, I was wanting to see how they did considering even after he said he regretted it, There was still people buying them and saying they cant wait to install them on their cars... a few opinions better than one...

Theyre probably the same quality as something like a Tein Basic. Completely harsh ride but great handling. If its a DD, spend some extra dough for comp/rebound damping adjustment. These things will beat the shit out of you unless your on like 16" tires. Im on 18s and the teins are brutally stiff

BOOST97GST: What tiens are you running? And how long. I'm looking for a smooth coilover for DD

I was browsing ebay last night and decided to search for these coilovers. Only ones that I could find are in the link below. They appear to be a fully adjustable version of the earlier mentioned ones.

I would be interested in these. Nice find.

Tein basics and theyre set for the least drop possible. They are very well handling coilovers. Handle like a slot car but ride rough. Ive got a frozen upper nut on pass front side so i cant drop it anymore. If I drop it another .5" i will have more spring travel and a smoother ride. It is LOCKED though. To the point where im going to have to get a coil compressor to relieve tension on it. That is if i can even fit it in there. Might have to remove the entire coilover to break the nut loose. And that my friend is not what i want to do!
If i get it done and notice an improvement and softer feel i will post back to exonerate the Teins. Until then, theyre guilty in my book. Im not alone either, ive read reviews of basics and they are known to be quite harsh.

These look interesting! I'm looking to get some within the next 6 months.
Not sure I'm sticking with the stock 17 alloys or upgrade to something like an 18 x 8.5.

Let us know what you buy and how they are! :)

Good luck.
