I am currently looking for a new suspension set up. I'm not rich and can't afford the pricey 1k+ setups by Tein, Ksport, JIC, etc.

I found this set of coilovers produced by E-Motor USA for 380 USD and 350 USD on ebay:
Mitsubishi Eclipse Coilovers 95-99 (Non-adjustable)

They look to be designed much similar to the other companies that make coilovers (Tein, Ksport, JIC, etc.) Except you can't adjust the dampening, camber, caster, or toe; just the height and pre-load.

Do you guys think this will crap out on me? The seller said that it doesn't have an upper spherical bearing, but a bushing.

I don't know what more to say. They look kinda promising and it comes with spanner wrenches, so that's a plus :thumb:

Mitsubishi Eclipse Coilovers 95-99 (Non-adjustable)

Welcome to E-MOTOR

Install Guide: I don't know about you guys, but it seems that the springs seem a little short when installed. It could just be me though.

Let me know what you guys think. I'll be the guinea pig for y'all if you convince me enough.

I WAS looking at something simple like GR2 with H&R Stock sport springs, but these lok like they run a little cheaper and might be a better buy. Looking forward to how well these work out.

My driver front side has been making this noise as if there is a socket or tool rattling around.

I called emotor and they said the spring might not be sitting right.

I checked to see if I left a tool, turned the spring, retorqued everything and raised my car bit. Same rattle noise.

Anyone have any suggestions?

...and some bad like the CX Racing intercooler-(was not direct bolt on and the route did not come in smooth)...
Was it advertised as bolt-on? I use a CXRacing intercooler. Yes, I also had to fab the piping myself but I knew that going in, and as of ~2 years of use I have absolutely no complaints about its function.

I think they look nice for the most part. but I wouldn't skimp on suspension. there are a lot of things that can go wrong if these "coil-overs" give out on you and you'll probably end up paying more than the 1K to fix the damage. I got my struts and springs for like 500, not too much more than what you're wanting and I'd pick them over coil-overs any day (unless you plan to roadrace or something)
I run Tein Basic Coilovers, -those are the height-only adjustable ones that retail for about $800 and have a mild spring rate of 9kg/6kg.

They improved the handling of my car tremendously without being overly stiff and I do like them very much. However, I have blown 2 struts now after 3 years of very light use (roughly 10K miles on the car in the 4 years I've owned it), I'm experiencing a lot of slop in the suspension and for some damn reason my front left wheel is rammed up into the wheelwell almost hitting the shroud even with both front coilovers set to their max height.

Tein wants just under $300 to overhaul my 2 busted dampers. Not saying it isn't worth it, but if it comes time to repair these eBay coilovers, you can buy a whole brand new set for a small amount more than the price it will cost me to have half of my used set repaired and sent back to me. If these eBay coilovers are the real deal function wise and last for even a year of reasonable use, then I'll be considering replacing my Teins with them.

Just because something is more expensive or has a certain brand name doesn't always mean it's better. OP, please keep us updated.

I ran Tein Basics with 2 of my GS-t's..I had problems from the get go. It seemded like after every car ride, my back left tire would be higher and higher into my wheel well i had to actually roll my fenders and it ended getting to the point where my upper control arm bolt was tearing my tires to shread on the inside. I went to JIC for my 2 GS-t's and never had any problems before i sold them cars. Im talking like 12k+ on both those cars!!
Tein basics are what they are. "Basics"

Hmmmm, interesting.

I called Emotor today and I told them my problem. They said that a cable that connects the shock tube to the top mount might be disconnected.

I had no idea WTH he was talking about, but I am going to disassemble it later.

I did switch out the springs; 8kg in front and 6kg in the rear. Drives much better with the exception with the annoying clanking noise from the fronts.

Ok, I got tired of the clanking noise, so I pulled my fronts and put my old spring/strut combo back on.

I discovered a lot of flop (side to side, up and down) from the top hats.

I am sure that is the source of the clanking and I am sure that these are defected product.

Going to call emotor tomorrow.

i dont get it? it says non adjustable?? why get coil overs that are non adjustable.. i thought that was the point of them? unless i am reading something wrong LOL

they are adjustable. look at the pics of the install.

The ride height is adjustable obviously. But the strut firmness/softness is not adjustable.

I'll work on a review post later in the future when this Fall semester is over.

Some part of coilover came loose in the front and I had to tighten them down.

I have yet been able to test the suspension through some twisties, but I was able to zoom 50 mph in 3rd gear down and around a freeway exit.

40 mph used to be my max. keekee.

hey mikelike, i got mine and installed, i had the same rattle and it was exactly where you said. What do you mean some part of the coilover came loose and you had to tighten them down?? When i got mine, i disassembled them and made sure everything was to my own torque specs according to tensile. Anyway, i think the springs that they gave me and you were kinda cheap-o....8kg front, 6kg back??
I just swapped them out for some springs i had from my old tein basics, they are awesome now. Unfortunately i run 20" rims for fun and mine are set pretty high, but yeah, i used to get spped wobbles and sways when i was above 70mph, and in the rain, the car is sooooo bad, even with normal tires.

So got my stuff on my car now, and got my camber kit in the back, and my irregular bolts in the front. I have a front strut upper bar, lower. Rear upper strut bar, and upper C-pillar bar, and rear lower tie bar. My car was dead on degree when it was aligned, and rims rebalanced, new rotors and painted calipers. The car looks BEAST now!!. Thanks for showing me these struts, they actually gave me some cheap hope and made me get my act together instead of coping with a LUMBER WAGON ride every f***ing day!!
