DSMer questions(HELP a noob please)

Im a noob and have learned alot from you guys, but still unsure about some things.

1. I've read that fpr base for 1g is 37.....Is that at idle becasue mine reads 26 at idle.(750cc injectors)

2. Is it safe to go to a lube shop and switch from regular tranny fluid to sycomesh(pennzoil synchromesh)

3. If my ecu has been changed(becasue i have dsmlink 1gV2), will a tach wire up the same way or is a aftermarket not worth buying.

4. I purchased the car already modded and the guy didnt mention bigger fuel pump. I here guys sayin they here the wally255, just wondering what it sounds like because i hear some kind of humming noise(from the back).

Sounds like a humming sound the trans fluid i wouldnt have them do it its too easy, a drain plug, then refill it, like changing oil in the car.

1. Yes...base fuel pressure is 37 psi. But, that is with the vacuum line to the AFPR disconnected (straight spring pressure).

2. Yes, but there are other fluids that are just as good or better. Do some searching here; it is a huge topic with lots of opinions and info.

3. It will wire up the same, and no it's not worth buying. Your factory tach is just fine as long as it's working.

4. After-market fuel pumps are louder and you can usually hear them whine. If the pitch changes with your turn signals, you need to do a fuel pump rewire.

On a 5speed 1g yes, base pressure is anywhere from 36-38psi..

not to jack a thread im sure this will help the op too!
If you have an AFPR, when tune the fuel pressure you need to disconnect the vacuum line and set it at 38psi, then reconnect it? Im a bit confused!

Your mods say you have 750cc injectors and a 16g, so I would take it you have either a 190 or 255. Maybe even a Bosch 044 intake., as those are known to be pretty loud. But to answer your question, they all will hum. It's easy to check. Go in your trunk, left of the spare, remove black fuel tank access panel, unbolt the sending unit from tank and see what you have in there. You can see if your pump is rewired as well. Read up on this. It's a must to get proper voltage to the pump.

IMO, big tachs look funny in our cars and are unneeded. There is really no good place to put them. But yes they wire the same.

Switching tranny fluids is fine. Do it yourself. You gotta learn to work on your DSM.
