Noob question, please help!

Im not technically a noobie. I know enough about DSM's to hold my own, but I can even admit when ive been stumped and need help. I read the tech section on how to properly install a manual boost controler. I understand everything, except for how to attach my "in" hose to the intake manifold. Do I need to tap in my own fitting? Or do I use a fitting that is already attached to the intake manifold? If that is the case, which hose am I supposed to use? I am trying to do this the right way by going from the intake manifold to the wastgate actuator and running my MBC in-line with that according to the tech article on this forum. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :thumb:
 
On a 1G, the simple solution is to use the nipple on the turbo outlet elbow just like the BCS was. If you have replaced it or just have to reference manifold pressure rather than outlet pressure, then tee off the tap for the fuel pressure solenoid like most boost gauges are. I don't like using the BOV line and prefer the shorter hoses that using the turbo outlet provides.

As steve said also you can use the FRP line on the IM.

I've done if from all 3 places(IM,BOV line, Compressor housing)
 
You guys have givin me a lot of ideas, but according to the tech artical on this forum I need to run from the intake manifold to the boost controler, out the boost controler and to the wastegate actuator if I want to have it run right. Doing it this way makes it so the weather and other elements dont change my boost levels. Is this the proper way? There are so many different ways of doing this that I want to make sure I have it right the first time and dont have to redo it. The tech artical tells me not to "T" off of any hoses from the BOV or any of the intake pipes. Is the tech article wrong? :confused:
 
Do it like that picture above shows. That hose goes to the intake manifold. One end is hooked to the BOV, the other end is attached to the intake manifold. Then you splice into it with that T-connector and go to the IN of the MBC, and the OUT goes to your WG actuator.

Let's just say I disagree with Kyle on the importance and benifits of running a hose back to the intake manifold.
I do however reuse the restrictor pellet from the stock BSC setup in the pressure source line to the MBC and that may be part of the reason why I don't experence any of the problems he attributes to not using the manifold.

This may sound like a stupid question, but what is the restrictor pellet? Where is it located exactly? That goes on the in side of the new MBC? Will this work on the 1G laser?

The restrictor is inside the short hose from the turbo outlet nipple and restricts the flow of air into the pressure column for the wastegate actuator. It's used on the stock system so that the BSC can lower the pressure inside the hose by leaking some of the air off and without it the BCS could never release enought air to make a difference in the pressure controling the WGA.

When used with a MBC it again limits the flow rate to the boost controller making it's operation more consistant.
