I have searched on this site and can't find an answer, what is the stock turbo on a 1997 eclipse GST, i thought it was the t-25, but the local race shopin boise argues and says the stock one is a 16g, they have not seen the turbo, theyre just saying that is what is stock, i am wondering what is on my car cause it has a j pipe coming off it, and the guy at a small dealership i bought it from said it was the stock turbo, butu he has no clue.

please help, cause im looking for a LICP.

That is what i thoght, they said the 97-99 came stock with 16g.

So why does my turbo have a j-pipe coming down is that because someone upgraded to a 14b, or do t-25's have jpipe?
I ask because I ordered a stock LICP for my car, and it wont come close to fitting, its built for a horizontal inlet and my car is vertical inlet due to the j pipe.

thanks for the input

All 2G DSMs came with a T-25 turbo. 16Gs also have a J-Pipe. If you really want to know which turbo you have, you can read the numbers off the housing. Then just do a search to see which turbo those numbers correspond to. As far as I know you can spin your compressor housing to allow it to have the outlet in a better location for your piping.

The stock turbo on a 95-99 DSM is a T25.
The stock turbo on a 90-94 DSM is a 14B.
On a very few JDM DSM's (1G) the stock turbo is a Small 16G.

If you have a "J pipe" Chances are you have either a 14b or a 16g. If your compressor housing has a "downfiring" outlet, it's a T25. This means the stock intercooler pipe (lower) attaches to the turbo underneath the turbo inlet (compressor wheel inlet).

so your telling me my 90 laser 4G63 with the "extension pipe" for the IC hose aka J pipe. Has a 14B on it.

The guy I bought it from said the stock turbo was a 16G and he thought that was what they put in it when they put a new turbo.

no, we are not saying it is a 14b. Ddavisaf told you what the stock motor's came with. It is very possible that whoever did the "new turbo" install did put a 16G on. or hell, even a bastard 20g. The thing is, if it has a j-pipe it is some sort of td05h variant. That can include the 14b, s16g, b16g, e316g, b20g, sleeper20g, etc. The best way to find out what type of td05h you have is look at the numbers on the compressor housing.

Also, a quick way to tell is pull of your intake pipe and look at the compressor blades. If they are a series of single blades, it is a 14b. If it has a staggered double blade, it is a 16G variant.

Well i looked up the numbers and i have a big 16g, i contacted the old owner, the guy who traded it in to car dealership, and he also said it has a walbro 190, so i guess my next question is what to add next to my car?

thanks for the help.

If you have an aftermarket fuel pump you should really get an AFPR. The stock one in our cars sucks. This would be a good consideration for our next mod. A good set of aftermarket plugs and wires would also be a good idea.

He should be OK with the 190.

Wires yes but nothing beats the stock NGKBPR6ES plugs, right sparky?

Except for in certain cases, like mine where I got fpr overrun with the 190.
haha...I just had to run into you today :D , one of the few documented 190 overruns.

I updated my mod list last night, i have boost gauge, MBC, and 1g BOV, thanks for the help and pointers, im just not sure about one thing, should i run a full 3" exhaust back?
