do I need an alternator?

Ok, so the other night I was driving next to my friends subie and we got pulled over, nothingnunusual in my town cause the cops are jerks. But my battery has died in the car many, many times before and so from sitting for 25 minutes while the car was on, I was listening to low music and then my radio shut aff and my lights went dim, and I knew battery died again but I didn't want to rev the car whike the cop was still there to try and charge the battery. As I'm leaving once the cop lets me and my friend go, my car barely wanted to move and my headlight tirned off, I barely made it to a parking lot I could see from the spot I was pulled over, I had to lave the car at the place overnight, jumped it in the mprnig and it started, did on a 2 minute ride from the parking lot to autozone, I bought a new battery and then it worked for a bit and then started happening again. I also noticed that my srs light will ppp on once I feel the car losig plwer and then the battery light will pop up too. I think its my alternator but I'm not sure. help!

Jay racing makes a kit for alternator relocation if u wanna look into that too.

Isnt there people using the higher amp galant alternators now without too much modding?

There may be I have not looked into it much I know that the Saturn alt doesn't take much to fit.

I'm using a Spyder NT alternator. It's not a huge difference in amps, I think it's 85amps vs 75 (or whatever) for the stock alternator.

Spyder N/Ts are 90 amp. All Canadian turbo models also have 90 amps if I remember correctly. Honestly, I'm unsure as to why we just didn't receive 90 amps in the first place.

If you get your Alt tested and its good, chances are you dont have enough grounds or bad/faulty ground wires. Look over your motor and clean them with a wire brush. Adding a few doesnt hurt. If you want to upgrade your Alt if you have sounds a High Output Alt is awesome for sounds. I run Optima batteries too never have problems with them.

i went through all the battery wires with a wire brush and put in new clean terminals the day the subs went in... i guess im gonna have to try the alt when i get the chance, but for now she sits

so i just read this forum about the Galant alternator http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/418866-96-98-galant-alternator-2g.html and it looks like it'll drop right in.
