im starting this forum like a poll. i want to know (and sure others too) how many of you tuners have actually gotten crank walk on there 2g and wanna hear all the people that havent. please just leave a reply if u have gotten it or not. thanx-greatly appreciated

just wanna see how common everyone makes it seem

Started @ 25xxx miles boosting 16psi + on the T25 with an Injen intake, dejon tool upper IC pipe, an HKS bov & Starquest FMIC.

74,XXX miles now & NO walk NO signs. Did have the pulley replaced cause I destroyed it racing.

Anything over 100,XXX & gets crankwalk is understandable. Old motors...what can you do...you should replace the headgasket & all those foshizzillin nizzle anyways. :D

We got some dude in here saying he knows all this & that & betting everyone money their 2G is gonna walk. Get a life dude...who gives a sh|t, this is suppose to be a poll not a test of your broke @$$ knowledge.

Walked at 98,000 3,000 miles after brand new clutch (Act 2600), Flywheel (Fidanza), and tranny (JDM $2,600) replacement. Careful out there I HAD 0 SIGN OF CRANK WALK. No clutch sticking on hard turns (would check every once and a while to be shure), No Weird inconcistant clutch feeling, No Weird noises. One day about 6 months ago I was going for a drive, I went to start the car and it started but I heard a weird grind coming from the pulley side. I run out to see and listen for what I thought it was. The grind click noise got louder quick and the car shut down. I ran to discount to get a feeler gauge took off the oil pan and shure enough I was way out of spec :barf: . The morel to the story CHECK YOUR 7 BOLT CRANK. Im still building my 6 bolt Race/Street motor doing it right this time.

well seems like crankwalk is waaaaay played out. I had 60k on my car before the rebuild. Modded with a 16g since it had about 5k on it. ACT 2600 for 9k or so. No signs of crankwalk ... rebuilt it with forged internals. Yes, the 7 bolt!!! :D

I have been a mitsu parts manager at a NJ dealer for 12 years and can count on one hand the crank walk cases! We don't get too many modified cars into the dealer much but we sold tons of 1 and 2 g cars! My personal beater is a 95 GSX knock on wood still going :thumb: when it does here comes the 2.4 OMG

Well I have a 95 GSX that had 122,897 on it and it took that short walk on me  but I also have a 97 GSX and it had 62,000 on it and no walk but :thumb: it has a 6bolt built like no other :dsm:

So im 1-1 for know

PS my 95 now has a 6bolt motor with 2g pistons

1996 talon tsi Awd. mild modifications here, 116,000 miles, no signs of crankwalk, but due to this post i will get my thrust bearing checked this week for excessive play....ill tell you what happens.

yep ive got it  with only 58000 miles on car

getting it worked on though

guess thats why the guy i bought it from only put 6000mi on it in the four years he had it

95 awd talon ... 95856 as of 6 bolt swap. no confirmed walk. though in the last 6 months went through three crankshaft sensors. running 18 psi on 93 octance t25 turbo gtech says about 240hp to the wheels. works out to about 285 to the flywheel. .. all preswap. :talon:

mine crankwalked less than three months after i got it (i think it was 54k or 56k)
but this was back in Nov2000.

I have a GMPP cause I got it used at the caddy dealer, and they put in a new shortblock assembly (block crank rods pistons etc) as they said it was the best way to repair it.
found out about crankwalk 2 months later which sucks b/c the Eagle dealer would have put in a 6 bolt for me if I had known to ask for it.
On the good side they were really looking out for me and fighting with GMPP to get a full short block rather than just crank and rods and bearings.
SO far no recurrence
on yes it was on the stock clutch, and I'm still running the stock clutch.

If it goes again though I'll be converting to 6 bolt, unless the EVOs are interchangable as they will be much more plentiful in the next 3-5 years than the 1g 6bolts.

I have 3 customers so far with 2nd gens and I just rebuilt one motor due to and oil line broke and wiped out the bearingd and that one still had very little end play between the crank and thrust bearing. That engine actually had 167,000 miles on it also.

You guys do realize, that 18% and 23% are VERY high numbers... that'd be like saying.. 20% of the people in the world are going to die tommorow... dont worry, it wont happen to you, it's only 20% (1/4th the population)

20% may not seem like much, untill it happens to you.

Transfer Case lock-ups may not happen often, but it happened to me, and thats all that matters. So i'm curious on how serious this transfer case thing is...

Oh and i have 112k miles, no CrankWalk.

you're a smart guy never knew that 1/4 = 20%

I thought it was possible for any car with a crankshaft to have the chance of crankwalk? Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Yeah, any car can walk. But 2g turbos walk alot

Yeah, I understand that the turbo 2g's have a much more pronounced chance of crankwalk. I just wanted to make it known that any car with a crankshaft can crankwalk.

my transmition is sticking out of gear like a bad case of the gout, It grinds in hard left hand turns, i am having mitsu check it out this sunday. . . good news! I am out of warranty by 9 days, and the dealer said that if the crank is out of spec, they cant cover it. "SORRY"

99 GST with 46,xxx miles. If i wasnt out of warranty by 9 days i would have about 10,000 miles left!
