just wanna see how common everyone makes it seem

mine walked on the way home for thanksgiving. sucks when you're driving from N.C. to N.Y.C...luckily i hadn't gone far. the night before it happened, i heard some ticking out of my engine bay that at the eime i thought was detonation, so i turned the afc up a little. so now i'm doing a 6 bolt and dropping it in my 98

my 1995 Talon TSi AWD, which had just recently approached 108K in miles has no symptoms and has never had crankwalk. Still has a DSM sticker and a 1994 production date too...so far so good..the longer it runs the less likely I feel it is going to crankwalk...I have had a aftermarket clutch in since last year.

What clutch are you running?

just put my 2100 in and my 95 walked at 140,000! I had no signs till after I first launched it hard with the new clutch and pp in and it had like 800 miles on it.

i have like 160,000 and it hasnt walked yet. It is an early 95. i think it was built in 8/94. I have had so many other problems though. I figure with this mileage i will have to replace it someday anyway.

bought the car with 126k with cranck walked...then put another 7 bolt with around 60k miles and then 1200 miles later it cranckwalked again....
95 eclipse gst 5 speed completely stock

143,000, ACT 2600, 50trimmed, good compression #s, no crankwalk!!

I have the money saved for a 6-bolt just in case :)

87000 - No Crank walk...

Edit: i have an ACT2600 as well..

You have the slammed silver one out there? I went to purdue last year I saw that one around quite a bit ... not sure if it was turbo though even.

Nah, Mine is a dark Green... gonna be painted black sometime here soon. i just bought it in may of last year... so i've only had it for a year.. last semester and this semester are the only ones where i've had it on campus. :dsm: :thumb:

i think the one you might be talkin' about is this guy.. it's a front wheel turbo.. i think.. but all i've noticed that he as done to it is gauges and maybe an intake.. stock exhaust.. and everything. his license plate is "CROME XX" or something.. numbers or whatever.

don't know 'em.. seen him around.. for other cars around this area there is a black 98 GSX with front mount, SAFC and all kinds of other stuff.. i don't know him, but talked to him a couple weeks ago..

Believe or not but at an aircraft maintenance shop where I work at there waz a case of an airplane crankwalking, metal was found in oil from the thrust bearings wearing. This is a horizontally opposed engine too!! Seems this problem is quite universal.

I figure this is a good place for a forum noob to start: 1998 Tsi, 99k, no walk.

I've been led to believe late '97+ cars have revised thrust bearings. If so, are performance rebuilds on these motors advisable? Can the rebuild include the new bearing as part of matching the new bearings to the block number or something? Seems a lot easier than converting to a 1g motor...
