Well, I got my new setup on the car yesterday. Put in a Bullseye VTRIM turbo rated at 48lbs, Dejon Tool Super SMIC, and UICP. We started at 5pm and didn't finally finish till 1am. Made a few trips to the store, stopped for dinner, etc. Anyways, the install went surprisingly smooth. No bolts broke, everything came off and went on smoothly. Intercooler fit just as Dejon said it would, like a glove. Turbo seated nicely, had to fab something up for the lower pipe to my intercooler but that wasn't too bad. We took it out and did a small tune on it, got the 02's to about .94 and was getting 21 degrees of timing advance at 7000rpm at 18psi. Car pulls very nicely, boost response is surprisingly extremely fast! I am getting 18psi no later than 3200rpm. Currently have the boost controller turned all the way down and have the wastegate set to open at 18psi. Holds boost, no creeping or spiking either. I plan to turn the boost to about 20psi with a nice tune. Right now I am stuck with a dinky ass intake (1 3/4" inlet) until my new one arrives in the mail. It is a HUGE bottle neck. Anyways, at 18psi it is a nice strong pull, much stronger than my 14b at the same boost. I had one question, being that the turbo is not watercooled, I had to do something with the lines. What I did was looped the lines back into themselves. I included a pic of this so you can see and let me know if it could have negative effects. Thanks guys.

Got to love working that late at night on cars. That is the only time you can degrease and engine at the car washer and not piss people off :thumb:

Get that intake on your car it will make a HUGE difference.

I was curious as to how much difference that intake will really make. My guess is pretty big, considering is like trying to suck all that air through a straw. Hopefully that guy gets off his ass and ships it soon! As for the SMIC, it is doing pretty good, it does heatsoak but only after a few hard pulls. I plan to add dome water injection to the formula to further enhance the cooling and allow me to retain my sleeper look. Anyways, on the SMIC I am still see mad timing advance at 18psi on 93 oct and 550's. Have quite a bit left to go with the injectors too. Should see 20-22psi on pump no prob. We'll see.

Does it clear you stock radiator fans? got any pics of that? looks like it gets pretty tight in there. Did the compressor clear the water pipe? i know bullseye makes an extra thick flange on the turbine to move it down some.
How does it sound? Is thespool much louder than before?
it really looks great.

including oil lines, how much was the install total?
How large is that compressor inlet anyways?
:thumb: :thumb:

I highly doubt it would clear stock radiator fans. I already had a set of FAL slim lines fans so it wasn't a issue. As for the water pipe, it wasn't a problem, had at least a inch of play there. It sounds higher pitched, but not necessarily louder. Probably will be louder once I get the actual 3" intake on it. Bullseye sells the turbo with the oil lines for 699.99 The inlet on the turbo is 3".

My T04B didn't even come close to clearing my stock radiator fan, and BARELY clears my stock A/C fan with the lower heatshield installed (hacked to fit). The bolt that holds the lower heatshield on rubs my stock A/C fan. I'm expecting to have to replace it with a slim fan soon, because I don't think it'll last long before melting, even with the heatshields in place.

So... are you guys saying that you cannot bolt this turbo directly on while using the stock radiator fans? I was looking at possibly purchasing this turbo, especially for the great deal that Bullseye has running on them, but I thought it was a direct bolt on with no problems. :(

It IS a direct bolt-on. All you do is unscrew and screw stuff in, no welding required. However, any moderately sized turbo will need slim line fans. Might as well do it now and get it out of the way. Last time I checked they were only $70 from SBR.

Yeah, good job on the install

I have heard mixed reviews about the To4b so Im glad it worked for you....My only worry is the smic...Even though the i/c flows very well, I would be worried about heatsoak, and it turns out you are already finding it out the hard way....What made you go with the sidemount instead of a black fmic.....I doubt most Red 2g's w/ a 50trim would be mistaken for a sleeper anyway, but, I see what you were thinking

Keep up the reviews and updates...I expect the 3" intake ----> 3" inlet would have a large effect on performance and sound...good luck w/ the turbo, I was optomistic of this model before but I am glad it worked out

Hell Yeah... thanks! I just checked that out, that's not bad at all for $70 bucks. I could deal with that. :thumb:

With a job like this, make sure you pressure test before you go boost crazy. Good job on the install.

I don't understand why fans would be needed. My 60-1 with a t04s housing (4" inlet) and internal WG had a bullseye turbine housing on it, pushing the whole unit out almost an inch to clear the water pipe. Both 2g stock fans were used.

Well, I don't know about 2gs, but I can tell you my experience. With my td05h/20g alone I needed slim line fans, it was probably 1/4" of interferance. As for the NAPA reference, I haven't tried or heard about that particular brand yet. But, I have heard about Pep Boy's fans dying very quickly.

The 2G cars have more room to clear the wastegate actuator compared to the 1G cars. The biggest problem on the 1Gs is the front motor mount. The 2Gs do not have this issue.

You get full spool by 3200rpm? That seems rather quick, i've heard guys only getting 20ish psi around 4000RPM give or take 200RPM.. I'm not saying i dis-believe you, infact i want to believe you as i'd really like all the info on this turbo as possible so i can compare all the different hybrids before/if i buy one...
