I'm not sure how accurate DSMLink is... we don't have an AWD dyno up here in Alaska. That said, DSMLink reported 416HP and 378 ft lbs torque. I was making a pass with a 5.0 mustang GT, the light hatchback ones. I figured my AWD from a roll would put me at a disadvantage... I took him by over a car and a half and I've got a stock clutch that slipps the whole time..

A HUGE THANK YOU to bullseye-power.com and David Hall. Seriously look at all of the threads comparing the EVOIII 16G, the other PTE turbos, 50 trims up the wazoo...Now the spool debate, it's not a BB turbo etc, etc. This puppy is taking some serious abuse, stock motor, stock head... and I'm in love.

I PASSED my ~350HP goal, no matter how inaccurate DSMLink may be, 416HP is INSANE.
I was flowing 38/min and I should be able to hit 49/min when I'm finished modding.

Thanks again, now... who wants to race! :rocks:

:talon:

I forgot to mention.. this was done on piss 90 octane pump gas... we don't even get 92 up here. bastards!

don't get to excited.. If you arent on a dyno you dont really know. DSM Link guesses the horsepower based on lbs a min. My turbo has flowed 49lbs a minute recently. Does that mean im running near 500hp? Hell no. If you are flowing 38lbs a min. where do you get 416hp from? You are no where near that. Dont forget to calculate drivetrain loss too. I seriously doubt you are in the 400hp range.

So how accurate IS DSMlink?
When DSMLink reported ~374 HP, I was trapping 110 with a 2.1 60ft. 13.2 E/T
500 HP is good for what... high 10's?
I'm sure 400HP would hit mid/high 11's and with my trap I don't think DSMLink is any more then 50HP off base, meaning I know I'm at least around 350. Not to bench race or anything...

I'm getting excited about the obvious potential this turbo has..
if and when I get the locker from shep, I'll slap her on the dyno. :sneaky:

38 lb/min on you octane is probably around 300whp.

On race gas you need 45-47 lb/min to hit 120 traps. 500whp is good enough to get you close to 130 traps.

EDIT: I started to see 400whp around 44 lb/min on good octane.

That's it. I'm putting it on the dyno. :nono:
good idea. dont post this stuff saying you have 400+hp if it hasnt seen a dyno. Im guessing with 20psi you are around 300hp

Also with dsmlink you have to specify your wheel and tire size etc. to get some what close Dsmlink says Iam getting 415 at 49lbs per minute with the correct info inserted, I wouldnt get to excited though its just that an ESTIMATION. Also dsmlink could be reading even higer on the estimate because of your slipping clutch if you are making a pull and and you leave the clutch in a wee and give it gas or just plain rev it you will notice that the hp spikes same sort of thing you are experiencing.

"I hit 395HP at the wheels with 19 psi/39 lbs/min"

I didn't pay him to post that.

ROFL - I didnt even realize that Burnett03 posted here. He know whats in my car, and if you'd like I'll post the dyno sheets tonight. Then again, my car is not the average bear. I'm hoping to get it on the dyno again soon and see what 35 psi is like.

I dont trust the DSMlink dyno readouts. I've had it read over 900HP before, so it can be WILDLY off.

I was making a joke, and I know DSMLink isn't accurate. I'll post the log tonight and see if anyone has any suggestions/comments. I'm more curious then anything as to how it got that read-out.

As far as not the average bear... I concur. ;)

Here's my log:

Not without the bottle. 39-40lb/min is what a stock motor with cams will flow at 20 psi. Pretty much you ordinary "beast". N20 is the only way to make that much power with such little airflow.

Dude, you need to pull some timing or add some fuel you are knocking atleast 15counts the entire pull and still pulled off 19 degrees you need to pull some timing or something. Your next thread is gunna be titled how do I pick rods out of my firewall Knock is not your friend.

jealous that you are "putting down over 400hp because dsmlink says so.?" Does dsmlink has a new feature that lets you dyno? What you push a button and an AWD dyno appears, you pull up and dyno it? Take it to the dyno with pump gas, and same boost and i 100% guarantee you arent at what you think you are. My friend had dsmlink and it said he had 450hp. Went to the dyno (smart way to do it) and put down 350

15counts of knock and he's putting down 400+ hp?

do i? who are you? refresh my memory

We're both CoDSM. ;)

I'd love to see a stock motor and stock cams make 395 at the wheels at 6000 feet of elevation and 10 degrees of timing.

;)

Once again a happy reminder that I'm well aware DSMLink is not by any means a dyno. It said 416HP, I said #$%!! what's wrong with this thing. So.. for knock, would someone be kind enough to explain how they see 15 counts or whatever? I see a max of 6.0 counts. Do you guys multiply that by something? I'm confused. Please let me know!!!!
So the car weighs in @ 2950 with me in it....
And...
we're pretty much sea level here in Anchorage.

didnt seem that way.. you came in happy as a blind man who can see again telling you had over 400hp and then told me i was jealous of your dsmlink hp.

I've always heard a good rule of thumb was 10 HP for every 1 lb/min of airflow. That is just a rule of thumb; assuming you are at sealevel or below and the engine is properly tuned.

just_passed_you - That is pretty good to get 38 lbs/min at only 20 psi on the v-trim. Congrats. :thumb:

I only joke with people who I respect. You know what the hell you're talking about 99.9% of the posts I've read. :thumb:

Just messing with you. I'm still pretty excited, I just edited the vehicle mass and weight, now it reads 433HP :coy:
I'd still like to know what the deal is with knock, if I look at the RAW ECU data, 15 counts sure but.. I thought that was all about phantom knock, lifter tick etc???

I'm new to tuning, in fact this is only ~1yr into owning, modding, tuning a DSM :shhh:

I'm even MORE excited about this turbo, it appears to have great potential. Looking at 1/4 mile times, people who trap ~110 are running 12.1's etc. So far I've only been able to race from a roll which is a set back especially for an AWD, but this turbo pulls and pulls, it's sickening. :barf:

thanks for the comment 99, you're running the T04B too right? :sneaky:

sneaky thread title.. had me thinking it was a dyno WHP.. cause usually when osmeone posts having made a certian amoutn of hp.. its assumed they went to teh dyno..

sa'll good though.. wen i get my dsmlink in we'll compare.. cant wait to get that sucka

If you only beat a 5.0 by 1 1/2 car length with 400+ hp, either the GT was seriously modded or you need to take some driving lessons. :p

thanks for the comments... 15counts of knock is bad either way.. at wot i doubt you are getting phantom knock. something isnt right. knock pulls timing and can lead to you pulling a rod from the side of your block. It's a good turbo, get it tuned 100% and you will really be moving.. FWIW i trapped 110mph, but only ran a 12.8... Am i bad driver? Maybe. But i'm a good tuner.. So lets hope i can get lower in the 12's this year.. Wish i was at sea level!
