k so i bought my car with a manual boost controller, and a boost gauge already installed. its a shitty ashcroft psi gauge.. im pretty new to turbo charged engines, and im not even sure if its meant to be in a car? i tried googling an ashcroft gauge in a car, and didnt find anything. but anyways when its at around 6000 rpm the gauge is reading 20 psi, but the stock gauge still isnt maxed out(apparently the stock gauge isnt very accurate) and it should be cutting fuel at 16psi i thought? ( from what i know everything else is stock) ive tried turning the boost down but the controller is stuck and wont budge either way.
so does this sound like just a case of shitty boost gauge? or is the boost just cranked way up?
also, what would help to loosen up the contolling knob? wd-40?
thanks alot guys

Counter clockwise man..

I wish I had one like that..Mine is operated by two screws, dam apexi and there weird parts..
I'm really not suprized that little 14b is pushing 20 psi, I'm more suprized your not hitting fuel cut tho..

so counter clockwise for sure??
and yeah.. thats why im freakin out about the boost gauge issue. it should be fuel cutting at 16, but yet, itll go up to 23ish. thats why im questioning my gauge.. i dont know whether to turn it down right now or get a new gauge.:banghead:
and what does a fuel cut feel like? would i know for sure if it was cutting fuel?

Another question for the OP: When you are hitting 20psi or whatever, are you at full-throttle, or part throttle? You wouldn't hit fuel cut necessarily if you were at part-throttle at 20psi.

thanks eclipse, now i understand how the boost controller works. didnt know it was spring controlled.
and ya man WOT. i think i might have felt a fuel cut once before.. 2nd gear pull felt kinda like i clutched in or let off the gas or something, but my foot was still on the floor. kinda scared me actually

best recommended place. anyone who know what they're doing taps in there.

Ah alright I feel a little stupid for asking it's my first turbo so I'm learning a lot spent hours on DSM reading into. Thanks for answering now I can do my project with confidence:D

It's a good thing you are turning it down, because you are hitting fuel cut..

ya i turned it down. im running 12 now. but i hope i havent damaged any internals. the engine still runs great and pulls real good up too 12, so i think its all good. and i only did like 10 hard 2nd gear pulls.. maybe not even more like 5.
so do i have an upgraded fuel pump and/or injectors? its wasnt fuel cutting until above somewhere above 22.

A fuel pump is possible, I doubt seriously that you have larger injectors though. If you did, without something to compensate for them, you would be running like crap because of all the fuel being dumped into your engine.

Dont feel stupid, im glad to see people who are just asking honest questions and doing your research before going at it instead of jumping into it and f***ing something up then coming to ask about w.t.f. you did wrong, haha.

our stock boost gauge is not accurate so just buy a decent one from pepboys or autozone. I bought a sunpro boost gauge and it works good.
