hi, i wona upgrade my turbo on the gsx, and there is so many choices dont know which one to buy, so i asking you pepz wich turbo is best for under 1k for street/strip setup thanks,

ok so im back on here, yet again asking for some help on my talon. i pulled my auto tranny because as ive told all of you once before it wasnt shifting right and wouldnt move until it hit about 2300 rpms then it would jump into gear. i tore the tranny out. turns out it was the pump and TC. either way im done with the automatics. im swapping in a 5 speed that im driving up to ohio next week to get. the guy says he has everything ill need for the swap for 500 bucks including the tranny. whats the list of parts im going to need?

I also picked up a T3 turbo from a friend who has a Civic. my question is will a T3 bolt up to my talon? i know i have to change out the flange and all of that good stuff, but honestly... is it really worth it?

right now im running a big 16g on the car and when i had it running, i was making about 16lbs of boost. im trying to run 20lbs.

If anyone is interested in taking this old tranny off my hands. make me an offer, i also have the stock exaughst system.

Searching would be the best option. To get some help with this matter, what are you horsepower goals? An evo III is sufficient enough for up to 340 Hp at least. If you want more then you might want to find that exhaust manifold for the larger t3 turbo. I do know that a T3 turbo will NOT direct bolt on. Mitsubishi exhaust manifold (stock ones) have a different turbo housing which doesn't allow bolt ons except Mitsubishi/hybrid turbos.

If you have the money anything is possible for your car. So if you are looking to invest the money, then get a T3 set up. Right now I am workign on my evoX turbo upgrade. I have a custom manifold to bolt right on the 4g63 and connect to the evoX turbo housing.

goodluck
Punishment Racing makes very nice exhaust manifold for your T3 setup. I don't think its worth it. You are better off with a EVOIII turbo

the evo III is a great turbo, Also these turbos have been proven to preform very well. I don't know the exact numbers but somewhere about 74-77 % efficiency with both the small and big evo III turbos. If you are going to run more boost then you need to make sure you can cool the air. Your profile says you have a blitz FMIC, that should work. Also I noticed you have a 2g car. Do you still have the stock 2g BOV because that thing is a POS!!!.

If you want to run more then 16 psi, then you are going to need a new BOV. A 1g BOV is good until about 17 psi then it starts to leak. You are going to need to modify the BOV if you are going to run 20 psi. LINK

well heres the thing, i got the turbo and a manifold for an eclipse for the t3 for 175. my friend had the manifold sitting there from when he got the turbo from his cousin who had an eclipse gst.

yes i still have my stock bov, my funds have run dry for the moment, i have to go to ohio next week to pick up a complete 5 speed swap, some spider rims, eclipse wing, tail lights, and rear bumper. thats running me 750 plus my gas cost to go up there. im thinking i might just sell this turbo for like 200 and the manifold for 150, im sure some gear head around here would pick it up off me fairly cheap.

my hp goals are basically to have a car that if i need it to get up and go, she does. i cant stand seeing these little civics and shit running around town thinking they are hot stuff and then i see some redneck driving around in some supped up mustang which in all reality all they have is dual pipes and rims with a body kit and maybe an intake. there are maybe 5 eclipse/talons around my town and all of them are stock non turbo. i guess my goal is up to about 350 hp give or take a few.

before i even decide on raising my boost any higher than 16lbs, i want to find another engine block and rebuild it or find one thats already built and all i have to do is slap my components on there and drop it in and go.

on another note...

my car is stock gloss black. the guy had primed a few spots of the car flat black where the paint had started to chip. i sanded the car down and sprayed it a flat black with primer. (no worries, i didnt use a rattle can either) im debating... keep it flat black, or should i go with a nice gloss orange?

Keep the 16G, it doesn't sound like your using much of the potential of the turbo yet. learn to make power with the 16g than if your still not happy with it than look for something bigger. I have 321hp 346tq on a ebay 16g and I have stock cams and stock side mount. Just goes to show what the little old 16g can really do.a 16g is gonna be more than good enough for your goal of 350hp.

When you say you have a t3 turbo all that tells me is its most likely a t3 flange on the exhaust side, meaning that turbo could be 200hp rated up too 600+hp rated. Need pics of all the numbers that are on the turbo.

First, your stock engine should be fine for 20 lbs of boost. Maybe buy a head gasket and head studs. No need to swap internals.
Second, you're going to need to upgrade your fuel system before you start pushing more then 16 lbs. Also, for the auto to manual swap here's a thread following a 2G swap maybe it can help you.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/144308-start-my-6bolt-jdm-swap-auto-manual-swap.html

Edit- ^My bad that's a 6 bolt in a 2G make sure you know the difference.

ok, in that case ill sell the t3 to one of my friends around here and keep the manifold incase i ever decide to go with a t3 on my car.

motor wise, it has 165 on the clock, i dont wanna run to much boost on a motor with that many miles, too many bad experiences with turbos on high mileage cars.... *shakes head... damn volkswagen!* i loved that little car, 230 whp.... yea.... it was fun, cried when it blew up and had to sell it. maybe ill do the head gasket with the studs, maybe while the tranny is out of the car upgrade my oil pump as well and what not.. never know when that might go out.
but for the moment 16 lbs of boost is alot of fun in the car

thanks cheap90. that thread helped alot.

i was also told that the eclipse tails would work on my car if i changed the rear bumper, i just have to make brackets or move the old brackets higher so i dont have sag in the middle, is this correct? im thinking having a eclipse rear end with a talon front end.

anyone know of any DSM salvage yards on the east coast that doesnt charge an arm and a leg for parts?

For right now I will be running a ported small 16g, pump gas, and a progressive meth injection kit. I will be throwing in a little race gas at the track every once and a while. I've been researching the best route to go with my next step in the build which will be the turbo setup.

Qualifications I'm looking for:
Must be ball bearing.
Would like it to run well on pump/meth on the street.
Would like it to be capable of 10's on street tires (which I know is mostly in the 60 foot when it comes to bigger turbo's) with race/meth and eventually e85(when they get it on the pump around here).

Yes the mod list in my profile is up to date. I was just looking for opinions. I ran a 50 trim and a 57 trim on my old neon and have been looking into something a little bigger. Ive heard the 35r's aren't really that great on pump gas.

Bolt on housing or T3 setup? For bolt on your not going to beat the FP setups as far as performance. FP3065 would get your goals done (so would a 3052 but have to push it abit more) but if you don't mind spending abit more the FP82HTA would be my turbo of shoice. Will basically spool like the 3065 with its HTA compressor wheel but allows for greater top end flow with the free'er flowing 35R turbine wheel. This would be a great pump gas turbo as well & is currently at the top of my list if I descide to upgrade from my 3052.

Definitely have to look into these, I'm going to go T4 if I can afford it, kinda just depends on where the chips fall as far as layoffs at my job.

how is the fp3052 treating you? I do agree on the FP82HTA! I also heard some good ans some bad about the GT3582R setup from punishment. Its not to bad of a prive for the mani, o2, dump, WG, and turbo. I believe it was like 2600 for everything!

The main reason I want to go ball bearing is Ive talked to a lot of auto guys around here and they said the journal bearing turbo's dont last on the automatic car.

Hello,im building a 2.3 motor for my vr4,but im stuck on what turbo setup i should go with ,help me......im not really sure what a good all around turbo is for a 2.3 setup ,i want to get it right the first time...

p.s i have a 20g turbo i know it wont reach the hp goals i want but would it be a turbo worth putting on a 2.3 liter motor?

1)awhp goal =450-500 on pump
2)turbos im looking at now = pte 6765 ,hta35r,hx40 with bep housing
3)i dont want a super laggy turbo
