hi, i wona upgrade my turbo on the gsx, and there is so many choices dont know which one to buy, so i asking you pepz wich turbo is best for under 1k for street/strip setup thanks,

When I tuned a frineds 2g fwd with an evo 3. He was able to build 20 psi off the line with a stock stall. that was a fun street car on drag radials untill he spun a rod bearing due to oil starvation.

For 1G'rs, I think the small 16G is the best turbo to have while retaining stock 1G converter. Spools same as a 14B. Can't go wrong.

if i end up buying this 98 eclipse gst ..i would first want to do a turbo upgrade the turbo in it now is the stock t25..i dont want to go crazy with the turbo but i just want something alittle bigger so what would be the next best cheapest thing.:dsm:

alright ..well i heard there was a t28 is that alot diffrent from the t25.what does the evo3 big 16g have..how much boost would u get out of that and how much more power would u get compared to the t25:dsm:

Well if all you do is slap on the turbo your not going to be able to tell a big diffrence. If you get all the supporting mods to go with it (safc bigger injectors and bigger fuel pump FMIC MBC ect ect and get a decent tune) you can push anywhere from factory hp to 350-400. Its all according at how much money you have and if you're willing to spend it.

well so far it has a k&n, catback, turbo timer, boost controller, hks bov, so by bolting up a evo big 16g and getting it tuned with some bigger injectors and fuel pump will get me at 350

Your gonna need a boost controller, gauge and adjustable fuel pressure regulator if you go with the 255 fuel pump, get like a apexi safc or neo air fuel controller probably some 550 injectors and the front mount or bigger side mount intercooler

^^^ Thats to take advantage of the bigger turbo evo 3 16g,I would first drive it for awhile and then make your mind up about upgrading, and start searching and lot's of reading and try to find the turbo that exactly right for your tastes and needs

The e3 16g is ###### your cheapest route. For under $600 bucks u get a turbo that will make 300-350-400whp as long as u have all the other proper supporting mods. Also if you can find one cheap a 20g wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Well I agree with the 16g but I think a 14b will do just fine for now, If your tight on money. 16g are from $450 to $600. Where as you can get a 14b turbo for $50 sometimes and this will make about 300 hp if it is done right. All you do is get the installation kit, a cheap FMIC(preferably the ssac because you have 2g also), exhaust , rewire fp and the call it a day. This I think is the safest starting point until you start getting the hang of a dsm and its still cheaper then buying a 16g alone. If you like the results your getting then think about moving bigger. But don't jump into too much at one time. If you do you will regret it later.

Being that you live in California, is having the turbo looking stock going to be an issue? If so, you may want to lean towards the T28. The 16G is more obviously different than the T28 if you ever get inspected. Both can make about the same power, lots of people are happy with either one of them.

Okay, every dsm enthusiast will cringe when they here this question. First off your first upgrade shouldn't be a bigger turbo because you do not have the supporting modifications. +1 on the 14b, though it isnt a 16g you dont need any supporting mods but a new bov( stock plastic cant surpass 12 psi) and an install kit and you can push 16psi safely but not much more because the stock fuel system can not handle it.

I tend to disagree here... First what you want to do is set your personal goals... Are you aiming at 350 hp? If so, don't waste your money on one turbo (14b) just to replace it a few months later. Step back for a minute and decide exactly what your end goals are, and then follow the 2g upgrade path to get you there! Just remember, as stated at the beginning, it's not the turbo alone that makes you power, it's all of the fuel and air supporting mods, with a good tuning device!

14B. Without doing any fuel system upgrades (which are necessary to take advantage of the 16G's that everyone else seems to be recommending) you can upgrade from a 360cfm T25 to a 405cfm 14B.

A 14B is a much more reliable turbo, and doesn't require too much to get it to fit your car. You can pick up a nice used 14B on eBay for about $150....then a j-pipe (compressor outlet pipe) for $30ish and another $20 on a stock 1G oil supply line (to the head.) You can slot the holes on your existing oil drain to fit the T25, and if you flip the water lines they'll work, too.

So for $200 your car will feel way faster on the "assmeter", and won't require much in the way of tuning attention.

Now if you want to make some more serious power, then look at the 16G.

Its best to get the supporting mods and pieces you need for tuning before you start stepping up to a bigger turbo. :thumb:
