Does anyone have any instructions (step by step for DUMMIES) on how to remove the air condition system?

-I never use it anyways. (If it's hot, I'm scared I'll overheat car, if it's cold, I wouldn't dare LOL
-What benifits will I get for removing it?

Thanx,
DeathBeast

Not having A/C sucks hardcore in the summer. I sweat my ass off when Im at a stoplight. Either Im gonna have mine serviced so it actually works or I will go and take it all out.

I dunno performance nuts will do it. The new Lancer EVO RS comes sans AC and when people do sr20det engine swaps in socal they almost always pull the ac

'Nut' being the operative word.

Agreed:thumb: I can't wait for summer to hit Maryland again!! I'm tired of all the snow!

Well while you are in there, take out your motor...that'll reduce your weight.
:thumb:

I personally think weight reduction is pointless, you'll probably won't even gain a 1/20th of a second in the quarter mile. I think to even see the difference you'll need to remove 300+ pounds from your car. I don't use the A/C very often, but I keep it in the car when I do need it or if I need to sell it. I don't want to have the hassle of putting it back in to sell it.

Just my 2 cents..

inst it a basic thing that if you save 100lbs you gain roughly 1/10 of a second on the 1/4mile? i think it is, ive seen that alot. That seems worth it to me.

i was just wondering who has there a/c fan pulled because it wont fit anymore? i put in a FAL slim line but its still a tight squeeze and it melts so i pulled it off too. my car gets frigin hot in the summer is there anyway to get my car cool again?

rule of thumb is that every 6 lbs of weight you lose can be thought of as 1 extrahorsepower to the ground. Of course I think this is a bit of bs but it could be true since you'd have to lose a lot of weight to get any noticeable difference. With the Evo 8 RS this can be thought of as a whooping 25 hp without the AC, spare tire, audio equipment, power windows, power door locks, rear carpeting and etc. It all depends on what you want buddy.

A/C ??? i have a/c its called 265 !! :)

2 windows rolled down going 65mph very nice and cool.....

i dont know but my car wont even have heat or anything after winter.... so i could really care less about a/c :)

all i want is my motor and turbo under the hood :) (keeping power steering though incase i decide to autox it)

i would say buy a fluidyne or a C&R (i went with the C&R) comes with 2 spal slimline fans for only $500.

Where do i drain the stuff in the a/c system, i was looking at it all just a bit ago and couldnt see where to drain it, whats it called? freon or something? how do i get it out of there without making a mess and stuff?

drain it out to the atmosphere :) its a great high LOL

if you want you can get it done at an a/c shop they can vac it out for ya. otherwise just do it yourself... dont really matter where i guess... there is a little pushbutton pressure thingy (like on a tire) you can hook up a hose or something to that and let it drain....
or loosen a hose and drain it out that way.. just be VERY carefull.....

Okay thanks, where is the pushbutton pressure thingy at? I was looking for something like that and didnt see anything.

usually it has a plastic twist cap thing on it... kinda like a tire but bigger.. maye 1/2" round.

265 does not work in california in the summer. where i live it gets 114 sometimes. thats like driving with a blowdryer on. i usualy dont drive my car if it gets that hot anyway. someone said if it to hot to drive with your windows down then its to hot to be driving at all. i supose this means i need to move the hell out of CA

the filler thing will be on a silver line which is about a 1/2"-3/4" line. i think the cap is like green or purple...... i think on the 95 its on the driver side... not 100% sure

be careful venting freon to the atmosphere. Not only can it be extremely cold but is poisons plus not good ozone....the best thing to do is take to an ac shop and have it vacuumed out.

DAMN fellas, I didn't expect this many replies, thanks for all the input....I did start pulling it(my A/C) today, got the condenser and one of the lines pulled(rain interfered shortly thereafter)....loosening the lines from the bottom of the condenser allowed the freon(or whatever it is) to escape, you guys were right, that stuff did smell toxic...I made sure to stand back....I also removed my front bumper and radiator(going to be pulling the block soon), along with both my fans....I was thinking of going to a SPAL or some other type of single electric fan unit, what type of fan setup are you guys running?? thanks for tha help so far, KEEP IT UP!!...peaaace

guys, my engine is getting pulled, can i remove all ac parts, and run a non ac belt on the new engine without any worries??
tia

Ok, im getting rid of my air in my car... Question: How to safely relieve the pressure in the system??
Can i breath it?
I have gas masks should i wear them??

I know where to relieve the pressure from but im wondering about the repercussions>

thanks for any help
