Ok im looking for a how to guide on how remove the abs. Ive searched on this site didnt get much, theres a few links around. But there dead. I even searched the web and other forums. I didnt get much from them. So if anyone knows where i could get a little idea on how to do this. VFAQS i guess got rid of their write up. So any help would be good. Also i need a proportioning valve. People arent getting back to me on the forum. I could use the brake lines too. But i know thats in the wrong section. Its a hard item to find.

put aem EMS in my car and now when i turn on my key the abs computer runs. The only thing i might have done to make this happen is unplugged the old serial data connector.

For the sake of 1G ABS removal archived info:

If you plan on going with a 3000 GT VR4 quad piston brake upgrade (like I did), you will need to completely remove the ABS wheel trigger wheels that mount to the back of the front hubs.

That process is outlined by Ludachris here:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...s-abs-trigger-wheel-removal.html#post50404920

How does that apply to the 3000 GT VR4 Upgrade? -The 3000 GT VR4 rotors do not have holes for the heads of the two 10mm ABS trigger wheel's mounting bolts. -The bolt heads actually protrude up from the face of the hub itself as seen in Ludachris's 4th & 5th pics, on the first post in the link above.

True, you could just drill out 2 holes in the 3000 GT's rotors but that thing already looks like Swiss cheese anyways, IMO.

-I figured it's minor work to remove the ABS trigger wheels anyways. -Might as well do a complete ABS removal :)

Hey i guys i have been wanting to remove my ABS system for a while. What all parts do i need and were can i find them? I also have a 94 eclipse with the 1.8 motor this is just a parts car but has the non ABS system. Can i use everything i would need from the 94 eclipse?

I believe you can use the brake lines from your 94 1.8. You just have to change the front lines.
But as for your proportioning valve you might have to get it from a non-abs awd. The reason I say this is because I'm not sure if the brake bias is the same. They both have different weight and suspension specs.

Hey now are you looking to remove the ABS system or basicly just shut it off???

Because last I checked u could pop the fuse box under the hood, and remove the ABS fuse and blamo, no more ABS... just an Idea to save u some work... :)ROFL

Agreed. That would save you some trouble. But what about that useless weight?

Or just use a logger and It'll disable the ABS depending on what kinda cable you use. But if you do remove it it cleans up the engine bay nicely.

Sorry guys im wanting to remove it completly! I need to space and want less weight.
so i can use the brake lines just maybe not the proportioning valve?

Well to lose weight remove the spare tireROFL j/k anywayz... From what im looking at, if you got a hanyes manual...? or barrow 1, the Proportioning valve is diffrent, but like Triad said, a Non ABS AWD would work just fine :)

Yeah, I'm doing the same thing with my cars. If you can't find a non-abs awd wilwood makes a good adjustable proportioning valve.

Thanks guys so the brake lines from my 94 1.8 will work. So all i would need to buy is a 1g awd non abs proportioning valve? I wish there was a how to tech with detailed pics. I did read the great write up on the VR4 now there just needs to be one on 1g eclipse, talon.

Hey guys i was lookin on ebay and i found this proportioning valve. What do you guys think will this work to remove my ABS and i can just use my front brake lines from my 94 eclipse. I really wanna get this done asap.

Ebay... pretty risky but for 25 dollars get it. Make sure when your done you have someone watch you stop a few times to watch the wheels lock. It would suck if you had the wrong one.

Thats what i was thinking but it does have 6 ports witch would be a non-abs proportioning valve. But then i also hurd it has to come from a AWD car but then the more research im doing i have hurd of a couple guys getting away with useing a 1g N/T proportioning valve and working just fine.

So i am removing the abs in my 91 awd tsi and the calipers have a wire connected to them. My question is are the calipers any different from non abs to abs? if not, can i just remove that wire and plug from my abs calipers and they'll be fine?

thanks,
cincinnati4g

hey guys i was just thinking i could just remove the ABS unit and just replace it with the proportional valve instead of getting the non-abs lines and taking out the lines that is currently on the car...is this possible thanks guys any input is welcomed....:D:D:thumb::thumb:

Those are the ABS wheel sensors... Remove them if you want, it won't make any difference unless you plan on ever going back to ABS. There is one of these on all four wheels. I would completely remove the front wheel trigger rings though (for rotational weight reduction and/or future upgrades).

The calipers are the same.

I want to take all the ABS components out of my 92' GSX. I already had to take one of the trigger wheels off to change the studs on one of the front wheels. I figure I might as well get the other one and then remove the ABS controller and all the ABS lines. My Haynes manual doesn't say how to remove that stuff obviously, so I was wanted to get some guidance before messing with my brake system. Anyone done this before?

How exactly are you removing the ABS?

You are going to need 4 brake lines and the 2g non-abs proportioning valve to do it right. The 4 brake lines are the non-abs fronts and the two lines from the master cylinder to the prop valve. All five parts cost $120 from JNZ tuning. There is a thread on here with the exact part numbers you need.

The installation was pretty simple... With the engine out. I still had to do a lot of snaking to get the lines behind the steering linkage. Probably would have been a snap with that removed as well.

I really enjoy my non-ABS brakes. Especially since the ABS was shot and by removing it I shaved 16 pounds.

Yup, I found the parts numbers yesterday.
Just if anyone needed them.

MB895931 Prop valve
MB895894 FRT RT Brake
MB895895 FRT LT Brake
MB895893 M CYL Secondary
MB895892 M CYL Primary

But does anyone know if 1g Non ABS proportioning valve will work in the 2g?

So I just ordered the parts to do the ABS Removal on my '98 GSX. Basiclly the Proportional Valve, and the Brake Lines. The question I have is I'm also going go be swapping in Rear Calipers with Vented Rotors from my '95 GSX. Right now my fronts are Baer 13" Track Kit. Do I need to swap my master brake cylinder also?
