Does anyone have any instructions (step by step for DUMMIES) on how to remove the air condition system?

-I never use it anyways. (If it's hot, I'm scared I'll overheat car, if it's cold, I wouldn't dare LOL
-What benifits will I get for removing it?

Thanx,
DeathBeast

So I decided to give this a shot on my 1g, and here are the problems I've run into:

1. I removed the front bumper cover and the blinker lights, just to make some room. Managed to get the receiver can out, removed the two tubes from the side of the condenser, unbolted the 2 mounts that kept the radiator in place, and tried to get the rest of the mount for the receiver off. I can't seem to manage to get the receiver can mount off (and don't have a dremel lying around yet), and I can't pull the condenser out the top. Any tips for removing the rest of the mounts for the receiver can?

2. I can't get to the compressor from the top, and can't actually see where the line on the left of the car mounts onto it. I also can't get anything around the nut in the middle of the line, so I can't remove it by twisting there... Short of chopping the line into pieces, what do I need to do to remove this line? (Said line is currently also partially intertwined with the wire that pops the hood open....)

3. From the bottom of the car, were I to try to just drop the compressor out, I would need to get it past the exhaust line and the middle of the car. Looking around, it seems like moving the engine will be needed for this. Is there a way to do it without moving the engine or the intake manifold?

4. The line on the right side of the car seems to also have a grounding wire attached to it where it bolts? (I'll post a picture tomorrow). It seems to be exposed, oxidized copper wire. Is it alright to leave this as is?

5. I see where the liquid tube meets the evaporator, but I don't see the evaporator. I'm assuming it is located inside of the dash? What would be needed to do to remove the evaporator, and will its removal have any adverse effects on the heater?

Oh, and sorry for the bump, but this seems to be the best place for the post....

First off, Thread revival.

I just removed all of the A/C lines in my car. Now I'm down to the compressor. What is this mystery bracket I have heard of that you need if you want to keep the power steering and use a different size belt to eliminate the compressor on an AWD? P/S is not really an issue as I was thinking of removing that as well to clean up the bay some more. But doing a little research and what I've heard is that it is not such a great idea with steering rack and pinion. If the P/S were to be removed, Would I need to do something special to the rack and pinion or just leave it be and not have any problems?

Thanks, Jayson
