Love this build took me two days to read it all. Very impressive I wish I had the skills you do. I just bought a 95 gsx and plan to do a full rebuild . I hope it gets to look half as good as yours. Thanks for sharing .

    Sup guys,

Not much going on with the Eclipse, saving money for epoxy flooring.

I did swap out these original 99 sidemarkers for some brand new oem ones! Rear lights are up next. The little things are so cheap its hard not to just buy a bunch of small stuff!

    Whats up everyone!

I was super pissed that I sold my Evo 9 steering wheel when I sold my Evo 8, and I was left with the wheel that originally came on my old Evo 8.

The wheel is dirty and is peeling at the top, all in all just not in good shape.

I've been toying the idea of wrapping it, but without power steering, I was worried I would stretch the wrap with how much force it takes to turn while parking.

I pulled the trigger on a Nubuck leather wrap with black stitching. I thought about red stitching but wanted it to look classy and clean, so went with black.

All in all the process was super easy and I am SUPER stoked on how it came out!

Here was the wheel disassembled, maybe you can see the deterioration at the top of the wheel. I cleaned the thing up super nice to get ready for the double-sided 3M tape.

I put a ton at the top where I thought it would have the most stress.

Rough fitment of the cover to make sure it was centered.

    Final product!!

I LOVE the way it looks and feels. Such a big upgrade for minimal price/effort ($45 on fleabay)

Also got the foam cannon out and gave it a nice bath.

I also acquired a 1G t-stat/water pipe so I'll get that powdercoated and on with new hoses and maybe a new rad sometime soon!

    Peace!

Dude... HOW do you get the pin out of the shaft? I'm about to just buy a new CAS. I cannot figure out how to get this out, other than taking it to a machine shop.

You have to use a cotter pin removal punch, straight punch or the like.

Clamp the housing, gently, in a vise, and hammer/punch the pin out. If you can, support the shaft with something, or just set the key section of the shaft cradled between the vice jaws, then punch it out. Two people make this easier, but I did it by myself in a matter of a minute or two. It's not made of glass, but it's still a precision piece, so sensible care is needed.

I'll give it another shot, but my pin is IN THERE LOL. Felt like I was going to bend the shaft with how hard I was hitting the pin.

Well I got the CAS apart and rebuilt! The pin was difficult but I got it after a couple minutes of hitting it with a punch.

Here's a pick of it fully disassembled. I already put the seal in so I laid an extra out just so you can see with all the pieces, so there are (2) seals shown in this pic.

48754453661_c43249aeb9_o.jpg Untitled by Brady Dingeldein, on Flickr

I'm definitely going to take it all apart again and get it soda blasted this winter when I get everything else powdercoated, I think that will look pretty sweet.

I'm going to post an article on rebuilding the CAS just because there were really no pics available online.

    Peace!

    Hey!

I got some new 235 40 on the wheels to fit a little better, I also raised the car up 1/2" and nothing rubs! Love the way it looks. I want to get a camber kit up front to bring the tops of the tire in but other than that I love the new wheels.

Haha not in my eyes! It won't be perfect until the whole body gets soda blasted and painted, along with all reconditioned and powdercoated suspension parts. Some day!

It looks amazing! Brady, your name sounds familiar, feel like we used to talk on FB back when I had my DSM or something. Maybe I'm just losing it. Either way, love the car!

Dude, that's awesome, glad to hear. Yeah I saw on your FB seems like you're doing well man, that's awesome to hear, honestly. ...and well, yeah. The DSM bug has been biting at me for some time, and I finally caved. Started putting some extra money aside so that hopefully by the end of the year I can get something nice and start with it. So yeah, you'll be seeing a new build from me in the upcoming months :)
