It was my understanding they wanted to keep fuel lines away from the plane of the flywheel in the event of a flywheel coming apart.

Bringing this back to the top. We are going to the local track for some test and tune this friday now that we got the motor back together. We also added some new coilovers vs the stock struts and lowering springs we had before. I have not been over to Darrens to see if we got the AEM issues sorted or not so I will try to figure out the situation there and get back on here with that outcome. We are also looking to change the way we stall the car and are hoping to get away from using nitrous all together. If it works out Ill post the results as it may be something that can help others as well. More to come, stay tuned!

Good luck guys, keep up the good work

If you are running stock struts how do you fit a decent tire under the front?

Hoosier QTP's in 26x8.5 16 on some 16x8 rotas with 5.5 backspacing fits perfect even with stock brakes.

What coilovers are you going to be running now?

Well Darren and I debated over this for some time. We didnt want to go all out on suspension cause there has been alot of talk with putting a live axle in the rear and we knew we would likely change the rear coilovers if we did. We decided to go with K-sport after we called around to alot of the different manufacturers and they were one of the few to actually answer the phone and talk to us .

They recommended their basic Kontrol Pro setup since it has a fairly light spring compared to their other kits with much stiffer springs that would actually make the car bounce around during the launch. Initial impression is good though and we hope to have good luck with them!

I was going to go with K-Sports also until a few hours ago talking it over with a very good friend of mine. He pointed me towards Megan's. K-sports apparently have a weak internal strut causing them to fail fairly quick compare to other coilover kits. Just something to look into.

Do not quote me on this, I was told this from a very knowledged DSMer and was enough to change my mind. Whatever you chose to do is up to you. Again, I'm no where near a suspension wiseman, just thought I'd throw some info that I gathered from 2 people out there for you.

Holy crap that is some super misinformation. Most of these kits such as the Megans, D2s, Tein, KSports etc utilize the same parts..

Which is why I said a friend of mine.. If they use the same parts, then cool. I do not know if it's true. It was not just one person that told me that either, it was two very different people on different sides of the nation as well.

One of them is whom I get all my info from on my own build and he himself has a pretty monster of a 1g, Chris Durr.

But I will edit my post so no one can take me for it or believe it's rock solid info.

There are 2 types of K sports, the cheap shitty ones and their custom built ones. I have been running the custom ones specked to my car for about 5 years now, not one issue to date. I realize my car leaves the line like a turd and hardly puts any stress whats so ever to the drive train, LOL. and so you know I run 450's springs in the front and 650's in the rear.

On a side note you guys should bring your car out to Vegas for Dec 4th IFO, I'm gonna be down running

Already made 1 trip to Vegas back in May. I dont think we are planning to go again this year. Next year though we will be traveling ALOT and we will be aiming at the overall points championship for the 3rd time! :thumb:

They (K-sport) did tell us that if the springs we have now are too high of a rate (420F 375R) that we can go to some lower ones, or higher if needed, we will see tomorrow! Weather is looking GREAT and we got most of the issues sorted out (or so it seems) so it should be a good outing! :sneaky:

Hopefully you guys can get the car sorted out. Good luck! Such a bad-ass car.

Not to try and take this thread off topic, Jeff were these ordered specifically from K-sport as in you phoned them to build them first or can you take the normal off the shelf K-sports and have them sent in to get upgraded?

Welp! No 8's last night BUT, the car did run very well for how hard we were pushing it (not hard at all LOL!)
Last night was really more of a "feeler" for us after we made some changes. Trust me we are about to kick the front door in on the 8 second barrier and then some when we get our alum rod methanol motor in the car.
As promised here is the video! We should have a HD cam soon :sneaky:

Any update on your new stall technique ?

Ya we were trying to use a progressive antilag, where it would start the antilag at 3000 and let in increase to 4500-5000, but no luck. It just wasnt enough to get the car stalled. It might have worked on our old set up, T66 with much smaller cams, but this 2.0 just doesnt make enough power down low to get the antilag to increase like we were thinking it would.

Great runs. What was the story with the direct port not activating?

Well we ended up getting it sorted out today, Darren said the "window" we have it set to activate in on the AEM was just too small. We just didnt have enough time at the track to get it all sorted. Here is a video of him testing it on the street at home from today...

Lookin good guys! BTW what happened to the old orange/white farm truck? That thing normally hauls b*lls?!?!

We were hyping that race up in the pits too! We wanted to run him but the tower mixed up the tree. Was supposed to be a pro tree but we think he was just scared to lose to a "4 banger" LOL (not really). Darren cut a good light too to make sure he didnt get left hah! The farm truck is major bad ass but has never been 9.50's so it would have likely ended the same.
