I'm happy for you and the whole thread about it!
Thanks @1cleangsx for posting all of the "adventures" of Autos!! :thumb: ✌️

You won't regret it J. :thumb:

So I got the carpopart filter today, and while it’s similar to the oem one it’s still not quite the same.
IMG_3512.jpeg
IMG_3508.jpeg
The holes in the oem element are bigger.
IMG_3509.jpeg
IMG_3510.jpeg
Also the lower inlet is bigger.
IMG_3511.jpeg
So needless to say it’s close and may work fine, but for peace of mind I will be going with a new oem one LOL

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat the difference. I don't mind it at all, I'd run it. Just log line pressure for giggles, bet $10 they'd be fine though!

However, $70-$100 is much....much...much cheaper than the cost of a rebuild kit and your mental cost at pulling the trans out, apart, cleaning it, and reassembling it...again.

Well im a little worried then, I may be taking mine out. I'm going to do a side by side close up of mine because I don't remember it being that different. Just because my trans has a heap ton of miles doesn't mean I don't still care about her well being. Thank you for those pictures.

I've ran them both. I didn't beat on it super hard but didn't notice it starving for fluid anytime. I had a couple extra "GOOD" OEM filters from a partout buy but I honestly didn't compare the two because of the different design, I just needed another filter and had an aftermarket one on hand.
Just grab your tin snips and make that hole larger, "it'll be fine" ROFL JK.

It's weird because your new one doesn't even have the gasket to seal it to the valvebody? Or am I missing something. I don't blame you for being paranoid at all I'd be the exact same way. I kind of am right now even with my used up unit.

Thanks for the pics on the filter, the side slit on the aftermarket vs OEM is scary different, then the holes inside that lead into the tube are a choke etc etc, and we don't really know the filter paper make up so....... it's worth the $40 difference IMO and I'm not turning over 7800rpm like most on here do.

Hey guys I thought I’d do a little update, nothing major since the last one, but I got the engine back in the car with the new Vulcan cut ring gasket and re used L19’s. My stmtuned order is delayed, waiting on the orings I think for the jmf intake. So I went ahead and modified the radium fittings on the frontline fab valve over.
IMG_3528.jpeg
First I removed one of the fittings to get an idea of how much to cut off.
IMG_3530.jpeg
IMG_3531.jpeg
I know it’s not an exact way LOL but should be close enough, then took my cut off wheel and got to work.
IMG_3539.jpeg
My co worker let me borrow his belt sander to clean them up, I had to clean up the beginning thread with a knife before they happily went back in but it worked.

Botta Bing.
IMG_3542.jpeg
And the other day my Boosted Fab trans bracket showed up so that’s installed as well:)
IMG_0002.jpeg

Hey guys! Today I got my Napa trans filter, the oem equivalent recommended on w4a33.com. This filter was $14 and some change and it didn’t disappoint, it looks nearly IDENTICAL to the oem.
IMG_0031.jpeg
IMG_0032.jpeg
The dual inlet looks damn near the same as oem, this $14 compared to spending $100 for a discontinued oem so that’s a huge score! I also went ahead and replaced the gasket with the nice rubber one that came with this filter.
IMG_0034.jpeg
And bye bye cheap plastic filter LOL
IMG_0033.jpeg
Hello my new favorite.
IMG_0036.jpeg
Again these homemade studs are such a nice help, again crediting John in his instructional video, so now this coming week I’m ordering my flex plate/stater plate/hardware, then this ole girl is going in her new home! Can’t wait LOL

Hey guys, figured I’d do a little update of what I’ve done the last few weeks which really isn’t much LOL, a couple weeks ago I decided to check my fuel filter element and I’m glad I did! I found the usual “goo” associated with e85.
IMG_0053.jpeg
IMG_0054.jpeg
This goo may have formed obviously from the car sitting, from what I’ve read it’s what happens when the ethanol gets exposed to air, which obviously happened months prior when I pulled the motor. I also checked the pumps/socks and they looked fine, for clean up I just thoroughly rinsed out and dried the filter housing and I’ll replace the metal 10micron element with a new one. Today I helicoiled a couple stripped valve cover threads, and went ahead and pulled the front mount to pull the old oil cooler which will also be replaced soon.
IMG_0078.jpeg
When I removed the lines I found a few more specs of reasons I pulled the engine.
IMG_0079.jpeg
Those specs are what I kept finding every time I changed the oil. I also found one of my fittings was jacked up.
IMG_0080.jpeg
So I got the lines off and flushed them in the sink with hot water cuz I’ll reuse them with the new cooler. Next I decided to strip and clean up this part of my harness for the alternator/power steering/ofh connectors. This is embarrassing to show LOL, I should’ve cleaned this up/re wired it 5 years ago with the new set up, years of dirt/oil gross. So that’s about it for now, Tuesday my starter/flex plate show up and the Trans is finally going in! That’s exciting, the last couple weeks I got just about everything else on the engine I could like the intake/fuel rail, power steering/alternator and vacuum connections, she’s coming along :)
IMG_0086.jpeg
IMG_0087.jpeg
Till next time, God Bless.

Thanks for the goo pics. I haven't checked my filter from 2022 yet.
Are we looking at both ends of the filter housing there? Goo in both ends?
How did the actual element look?
How long did the car sit anyway?

The goo was in the outlet end, with the end of that feed line exposed to air after being disconnected from the rail, the mystery is if it was there before I pulled the engine/rail. The 10 micron filter connects to the inlet of the filter housing, from what I’ve read they’re not serviceable and should be replaced. I always add Lucas stabilizer to the tank. I wasn’t having any fuel related issues in October 24 when it last ran, the injectors were cleaned 2 months later, I know this could be prevented by “pickling” the fuel system with gasoline, I’m not too concerned moving forward, the injectors are good to go, the filter will be like new, and again with the pumps/socks being fully submerged in a 3/4 full “treated” fuel tank I think I’ll be okay:)
