Just thought I would show off a few pics of my latest lighting upgrade.
I did several upgrades including;
-Replaced the Hella E55 Fresnel lenses with ZKW replica clear lenses. This gave me a sharper cutoff line with better color too (lens was spaced out with one #8 washer under each support for best sharpness).
-Moved the old E55 lenses to the high beam positions so I now have projector-style high beams. For my real high beams I use the bi-xenon feature of the Hella E55s so the projector lens over the high beams is only to create a balanced look and it serves more of a flood light function than a high beam function. There is no room to put a true projector in that space and it's not really needed since I have 65W boosted ballasts and a bi-xenon feature on the main lamps.
-Gutted the old 1157 amber marker/turn signal bulbs and converted the turn signals to projector lenses. I then added six amber colored Rebel LEDs for a really updated turn signal look.
- Converted a set of OEM-style smoked clear reflector side markers into amber LED turn signals using 8 Lumileds SnapLEDs per side.
- Added 168 bright white LEDs to underline the entire headlamp housings. I modified some ready-made semi-flexible LED strips into two 84 LED arrays that extends along the entire lower housings. I had to modify the front lower bezels to accommodate the LEDs within the housing. The LEDs are brightness adjustable using a PWM. These lights can be activated either with the marker lights or with the fog lights. At night they are annoyingly bright so I will probably set up a dual-brightness feature so that when I turn on the marker lights they automatically dim down.
