How about INVISIBLE LIGHT? Ehh? Ehh?:rocks:

How about INVISIBLE LIGHT? Ehh? Ehh?:rocks:

that would be good! im sure if its bright enough it will be almost invisible LOL i wish!
im always looking for new ways in the light but allways seems real hard! right now im working on head lights with the high beam removed for direct flow to the filter with maybe led's around the hole like halo's.

let me know if you EVER find invisable light haha;)

I would hate to be in front of you on a dark night. Holy freakin lights batman. And I think it would be pretty easy to get away from cops with those taillights. Probably make a cop do convulsions. I love it.
p.s. I realize you don't run them when you are on the road.

Do a writeup on the R8 mod please!

I've been meaning to do this for a while now.

It's simple, buy a flexible LED strip from Oznium, take off the headlight casing. Line them on the bottom of the headlight, adhere by however you want to(double sided 3M, glue w/e) send the wires through the headlight (drilling might be required) and either tap the parking light source or use an 'add a circuit' to tap into the parking light fuse.

Im pretty sure the guy can explain it a lot better though ROFL

Yea but the pics he has up there don't give you a good idea how to get the LED's in there without actually seeing the strip itself from the outside. That'll look tacky.

No it wont. LOL. If you do it right, you wont have a problem. a small hole with black wires going through it behind the strip isnt very noticeable.

Imitation. Flattery. You know the saying. It's like back in the 1880 when all headlights were either acetylene or oil-fired lamps. As soon as the electic headlamp appeared on one car, next thing you knew, everybody had them. He-he!

Whats with the transition from 35w-65w?

I modified the ballast so instead of the normal 35 watt output I can boost the output up to 65 watts in 6-steps small steps. It allows me to have extra light on the road without blinding everyone like normal high beams would. I don't use it that much except on late night road trips outside of the city. The 35W setting is plenty for my normal night travels.

Write-up?
I might do a step-by-step later when I create the new headlights for my GSX but for now I'll enjoy being unique for a few more weeks.

It really isn't too difficult but opening the lights and cutting the bezels was the harder part. To create the "lip" that the LED strip sits upon I cut off the front 3/8" edge from each bezel and then took the scrap piece from the left bezel, flipped it over and glued it to the bottom of the right bezel to create a little step so I had a better edge to glue the LEDs to. The power wire just drops through a little hole back by the turn signal and taps into the marker lights. The LED strips come from DealExtreme Item #11303

I know what you meant. I of course was being sarcastic with my reply.

I very much enjoy adding custom mods to my cars but I know some people are content to leave those things alone. The fact that many of my mods are visual and not performance oriented keeps me a second class citizen here but I understand this is a performance site first.

You are kind of a sneaky famous (infamous) guy. The first time I ever heard of your taillights was thru a Subaru modding friend of mine. He had to show me online that vid of your taillights. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it was actually on a DSM! I don't think you are considered in any part a second class citizen on here. Everyone I know of has huge respect for you car and your led work. And that extends to other tuning communities outside of the DSM groups. Imagine, a Subaru guy (our mortal enemies) giving props to a DSM guy.

LOL i know all friends again :thumb: well its not always about performance visual is always good aswell what about show cars alot of them have no engine mods atall!! i like your tail lights though would be good if you can write words in them aswell LOL

You have some bright headlights now. Not a bad cutoff either. My low beams are almost dim enough to be unsafe, and I just changed them last spring.

What does the control panel for all this lighting stuff look like?

Any chance of posting that 35w to adjustable 35w-65w mod? In my area, you pass more deer than cars.

My "control panel" is an unassuming small blue dial and a tiny momentary tactile switch.

The boosted HID ballast mod involves cracking open the ballast housing and changing the resistance in the feedback loop for the output stage. You can read about it in depth on HIDPlanet and I only know of it being done on Bosch AL ballasts. It can't be done to just any brand you might have. Search "Boosted and Ballasts"

Oh and awesome work Dave. I had experimented with this fairly recently when I was upgrading my projectors and threw in an extra strip of white LEDs, but it looked nowhere near as good as yours did, so I pulled it out. The spacing on mine was way too wide.

Did you buy your strip spaced like that?

i thought i would try something different and go for a look that no one has really done(at least that ive seen). these are 28" long strips and they go from corner to corner of my headlights. i wired them up to a switch to turn them on and off. they look really cool with my 10000k hid headlights. here are some pics:thumb:

Yea, Azdave did that with his but put them inside the lights. I tried to replicate the Audi style with mine, but mine were too spaced out to look remotely good. Dave is the only one I know of that had pulled it off.

Since yours are outside of the headlight, are they fully sealed? Any night shots?

Is there really that much of a gap below our headlights? jk I was waxing my car today for the first time in 2 years today and noticed my hand could go under both headlights all the way to the knuckles.
Any way that doesn't look too bad and if you haven't yet check out Dave's car, it's like a pyrotechnics show at a rock concert.
Side note, I would love to put some hid's in my back up light's to help ward off tailgaters at night.

It might look good to get rid of every other LED on that strip. More Audish if that's what you're going for.
