since i had like a half inch gap under my headlight, for some reason, these filled it perfectly. they are 100% water proof. i still might try it inside the headlight, i think that would be sweet. and that is crazy all of those LEDs LOL, im sure the LEDs in his headlights look ridiculously good

oh, i didnt see that link, thanks jeff. those look so cool LOL. im gonna have to try to get them inside the headlight

I'd like to see some pics of yours at night or like dusk. Put the headlights in the oven for about 5-10 min at the lowest setting your oven goes. Usually 200 degrees or so.
Then the headlights will open right up. The heat softens the glue holding the headlights together.

my friend just got a 98 gst with a ton of extra parts and he is going to give me an extra headlight to test some stuff out. im going to try to put this in the headlight. but they are a little longer than the headlight and now it just goes inside my bumper and you cant see the last inch or two. do you think i can cut off a few lights in the strip or are they wired to where if one gets cut out they all wont work?

I honestly thought it was gonna look WAAAAYYY tackier, but I never expected to like it. Great job, I'm impressed. :thumb:

haha thanks, i wish no one had done this yet LOL. well im the first one to do this in my mind because i didnt know he had done it. but he is like a professional LED..light..person..dude and im a 19 year old LOL.

azdave i hate how awesome your stuff is and i wished you lived near me so i could learn how to do that kind of stuff. You sir are a very brilliant man and I for one have an enormous amount of respect for you!...electrical stuff just makes my head spin (8000+ connections OMG)

Thanks again for the comments.

I had the Eclipse over at MOD 09 a few weeks ago in CA and had fun showing off the LEDs once again. I did a few updates to the "stutter-shutters" on the bi-xenon Hellas. By upgrading to a Picaxe controller I have much more flexability in the program options.

I have it arranged now so that I can tap the trigger button one time and I get a pre-measured double burst of light including an automatic boost to 65 watts on the HID ballasts. The sweet thing about using u-controllers for this is that I delay the shutter opening by about 1/20 of a second so the HID bulbs are at full brightness before the shutter begins moving. It gives a much more pronounced strobe effect than it used to.

I also called on the Picaxe to perform a PWM function for when I hold the shutters open continuously. Some people have reported failures of the solenoid relays after long-term use of the bi-xenon feature. To reduce the heating I have the solenoids receive full power for about 1/4 second but then reduce the power through pulse width modulation of the signal so that I only use half the power to keep the shutters energized. I can leave the shutters active for a long time now and they barely get warm.

I found a couple of pics I took of the DRL LEDs attached to the bezels. Of course this is an aftermarket housing but the general idea still applies to do this mod to other headlamps. The quick explanation about how I trimmed the bezels is in an earlier post in this thread. I painted it flat black to hide as much as possible.

dave where do you get most of your HID projectors/parts from...i saw in your video you like HIDplanet.com but i didnt see the model you use on that site so i was just curious because a retro-fit HID project is something im going to attempt just to test my ability

It's all pieced together from HID planet members FS parts and Ebay auctions. I used Hella E55 bi-xenon as my main lights but they are big and hard to fit. TSX are another good choice and are smaller (and cheaper) nowadays but they aren't bi-xenon. About any namebrand ballast will work for powering the system. I used Hella Gen3 at first then switched to the mod-boosted Bosch AL.

Blurred Talon is doing much the same in another thread. There is no one perfect solution yet for our housings so following other projects like his and mine are the best we can do. There is a a lot of fabrication involved so it looks professional and many people don't have the shop or time to do that. That is why good projector retro-fits are rare and why HID PNP kits are so common. The performance and safety is much better with the true projector retro but it's not a small project.

Looks good! If you have the room to place LEDs under the housing it certainly simplifies the installation. I have mine dim down at night as I think they are too bright. During the day they run at full brightness.

I posted a few more pics at the end of my thread showing how I fit and mounted the LEDs inside but I'm running aftermarket headlamps so there will be differences.

BTW, I'm not a professional (but I'm trying). I'm self-taught about all this LED stuff. My training was Mechanical Engineering.

Gotcha...the fabing i.e. cutting, fitment, painting etc... I should be okay with. My main concern is just the wiring and not frying/setting something( or myself) on fire while setting it up cause i have the wrong parts.. Thanks for the info

SIDE QUESTION: Have you, Dave, or anyone else thought/tried to start an LED strip on the inside bottom corner and go up and than to the outside top corner for a curved/eyebrow effect? or will this get lost in the main beam light and be pointless?
