Looking for better lighting from my 1G headlights. I'm not interested into gay 10K HID's (5K only) and yellow fogs and all that crap. I'm interested in getting the most from my stock 92-94 housings. What kind of things are my fellow DSM'ers running for better lighting at night?

Good HID brands? Do stock housings hold up to HID heat? Does smoothing the inside of the headlight make for a better light?

And any pictures of what people have done would be great.

I bought a 5k hid kit off Ebay a while back. Had to cut and splice a few wires and drill a hole in the back of the headlight assembly, but the results are amazing. Much more light, and the hid's only use 35 watts versus 55 watts for stock low-beam bulbs. So heat build-up is not an issue. Use a headlight restoration kit to clean the lenses also.

Using HIDs in a reflector housing is dumb. Retrofit.

Why is putting hid's in a reflector housing dumb? I've got the euroclear headlights with a full hid kit (bulb s, ballasts, harnesses). Works great for me.

Yeah great for you, annoying as hell for anyone else. You are that guy behind me that I wanna kill.
The light scatter without a proper projector is terribad. You're risking the safety of others.

Oncoming traffic thinks you're a ricer, BTW. ;)

My buddy told me about the 9011/9012 bulbs as a replacement to the 9005/9006 bulbs that are stock. You have to slightly trim the plastic tab to make them fit, but they're considerably brighter. I have them in my car, cost me about $80.
