Hi I have a 1995 eagle talon tsi. Awd. And I put slim fans on it with the shroud and I have them both hooked up to one power wire and one tago. Switch and my car still gets very hot. The reason I bought the fans was because it gets very hot down hear but the fans don't seem to pull a lot of air I have to drive with my heat on full blast to prevent over heating. Can any one help me please? Sorry for the blob paragraph. I got the fans off of eBay with a shroud. If that helps

Problem is likely those junk, no name slim fans. What size did you get? Most of them move next to nothing compared to the stock fans. You need fans that actually move air, such as SPAL or Derale. You want the largest diameter you can fit & typically the less slim they are, the more air they will move, so get the thickest you can fit in your setup.

Personally I have a 13" SPAL as my main fan. It flows something like 1800cfm. Your typical 12", no name, slim fan probably flows ~1000cfm & some of them won't even flow that.

Now i know not to use those shit fans that came with the radiator. I just bought same brand that came w 2 12" fans. My stockers are holding up just fine so im going to bolt them up to it.
Im guessing with that mani you have really no room for even a modified stock fan setup? I dremeled the hell out of my passenger side and temps still dont go above 210 even in 97* weather. Do what daren suggested and keep the shroud, ditch the fans for some high flow SPALS and call it a day. I know it blows to have wasted money but i really sucks to overheat.

so let me get this straight. you bought aftermarket fans instead of getting a new thermostat or checking to see if yours is good? what mixture of coolant are you running, is your thermostat stock? i see you have a hood scoop so you defintely shouldnt have to drive with the heater on.

i have a meshmeto thermostat and 70/30 coolant one bottle of water wetter and the reason why my fans sucked was because they needed separate power switches i fixed them and they work great now thank you for the help.

i fixed it they wernt getting power now they work at full and really great ! two !!

ok well the first way you said you hooked them both to the main fan connector.. you lost half cfm there hook them up seprately and one to a switch straight from the battery ,fused, and there you go and if your thermastat is new and your mix is 50/50 or better then get spal fans :thumb:

Mark this thread resolved please, its a good habit to get into. :D

I am not sure of the quality but, getting the right flow does wonders. If you have an unshrouded exhaust manifold, it will be that much worse. The fans that I am thinking of getting are MR Gasket 14 for the passenger side and 12 for the driver.

According to the flow numbers, the 14 flows 1800 cfm and the 12 flows 1400 cfm. I read somewhere that stock was 1300+ per fan so, these will be upgrades in total.

If you get the autozone/advanced/orielly special, they are usually hayden fans and flow about 800, at best, per fan. Spend the extra money and get a good fan like spal or slim line.

If anyone has mr. gasket fans and they are good, let us know. 1400 for a 12" fan is pretty good from all that I have read/seen. Since the stock radiator is about 14" tall (finned part) I am going to get the larger one for the fan that runs when temps get around 190. My laser has a tubular header and no shroud. It is not liking the 90+ here in GA right now so, I just drive it to work and back. 2 miles one way.
