Hello everyone! I just purchased my 1996 Eclipse GST a few months ago, had some issues with a few different things. Most recent was car was smoking and running very uneasy, so I decided to pull the engine. I am going to do a full engine rebuild-ish, I bought new wisco heads, still looking at the rods I want, if there’s anything anyone thinks I should buy and upgrade I would love help! Trying to push more power but not an insane amount seeing how I want this to be more of a daily but not quite. Thank you guys!

I have a great set of wrench’s, but they go from 8-17 and none fit the stock pipes. So I have to grab another crescent wrench to hold them both.
What..?? I don’t understand.. they are metric..?? Not sure if those fittings are metric, maybe standard..??? Crescent wrenches always end up rounding off the hex, then ya gotta resort to vice grips or channel locks.. yucky

Looking at the video you posted it looks like gas is coming from the very top of the fitting that goes into the filter.

Post #52 on my build thread has a good picture of how i had the wrenches. My build thread Just a open wrench at the top and a line wrench at the bottom because you definitely dont want round off that bottom fitting. Just be aware of your wrench position at the bottom that you arent trying to turn the embedded nut that is part of the filter as the look close to the same size.

I was told not to use teflon tape and also told that i didnt need it. Im not a mechanic so im not going to say whats right or wrong but i didnt need it...also didnt need it for the Prelude, which is very similar, when i did that filter either.

i agree that i wouldnt use a crescent. I didnt use a metric wrench to hold it because i didnt have one that big and it was snug enough to not let the filter turn

Not sure if what fittings are metric?

Should I use a flare wrench or what should I do? I agree, crescents suck. They always round off stuff and I hate them. So I can use the other wrench’s and get some.

The fuel line fittings

Sometimes they are ok, gotta be super careful with em but trust I’ve used them many many times

Should show the hose kit like Paul asked tho, just to be safe. Youd be surprised what guy may spot that you didnt see. Been safe up to this point and should continue doing so. Shit is dangerous

This is the exact kit I bought. But it’s female to female when trying to hook up, and the new hose is JIC. So I have a 3/8ths male to male fitting, one side is JIC.

I went back and editted the post u highlighted, i just used your basic open end wrench for the top...i wasnt going to be able to get a line wrench on the top because of the hose on top, if i remember correctly. It was enough to keep the filter from twisting

So if I tighten them, and nothing happens, then what? Should I get new fittings, or adapters?
Id probably disconnect the hose at the fuel rail first and see if fuel has actually made it there. If not, then id suspect a connection problem with the fitting. When I was doing the filter, it seemed like that stock fitting was very specific because of how far it when into the filter and how it needed to be seated properly. You measured the length of the new fitting compared to the old one?

No i did not do that. What does that mean? I hold my new fittings to the flared one, but like the size of the hole or how long the bolt is?

I was referring to length, but disregard my asking about that. I dont have a filter in front of me and cant find the visuals to remind me how the inside of the filter and the fitting are... i thought there was a need for the fitting to be a certain length because somewhere internally in the filter a seal is created between the tip of the fitting and the filter. i didnt think it was simply the bottom of the fitting and the threads that create a seal. Ithought it was something higher up. But maybe ive just forgotten how it actually connects.

I dont see anything in that kit that connects to your filter or the line. What did you do? Show us.

The thread at the bottom of the stock fuel filter is m12x1.25 (I think I may have said it was m14x1.5 in an earlier post). This is the kind of fitting you need to connect a -6 AN line.

Im going to disagree. Top side yes but bottom side is a flare fitting and it isn't JIC. Im not sure an adapter exists as most of us probably just use a filter with AN inlet/outlet.

For a stock filter, the bottom (inlet) is a M14 x 1.5 thread. While it is a flared fitting, the threads are metric. The top (outlet) is a M12 x 1.25 thread.

But would you use a crush washers on the bottom? I wouldn't. Needs a flare adapter or scrap the stock filter or fix the stock feed. I see no other way. Nothing AN/JIC should be screwed into the stock filter.

This is the part that i have, if it’s an m12 by 1.25 I do not know, i will have to double check.

My new fuel line is JIC would i not need it for that?

You can't screw JIC and a regular flare together. Thats not how it works. The angles are different. What are you screwing into the bottom of the filter?

Got it. That makes sense, it’s a flat fitting going in to the filter. Only the side going into my fuel hose is JIC.

Okay, got it. This makes sense i understand this.

Lets get some pictures of the things you are trying to connect together. The hardline connection to the stock fuel filter is a bubble flair if I'm not mistaken.
I gotchu. This is everything. I definitely think @SixBolt_16G was right, i definitely did not tighten them tight enough.

The fitting in your hand. What is it? The left side is obviously a male AN and the hose will screw onto this. What is the other side? What does the package say?

There was no package, that was from the hose shop. The guy said it was JIC and handed me it. It is close enough by, want me to go back and ask or get a different part?
