Hello everyone! I just purchased my 1996 Eclipse GST a few months ago, had some issues with a few different things. Most recent was car was smoking and running very uneasy, so I decided to pull the engine. I am going to do a full engine rebuild-ish, I bought new wisco heads, still looking at the rods I want, if there’s anything anyone thinks I should buy and upgrade I would love help! Trying to push more power but not an insane amount seeing how I want this to be more of a daily but not quite. Thank you guys!

Well gentlemen, with extreme sadness and disappointment, I have come to say farewell. (For now…) due to financial difficulties and this car just sucking me dry of all money, I have to gave a reliable car that gets better gas mileage and not premium LOL. I did as you all said and sold her whole to a gentlemen who very much loved it, it pained me more than I knew to see her off. I picked up a new car the next day for a very very good price. I think this was part of Gods timing and it was time for me to be rid of that beloved car. If you are curious at all, the new car is a 1989 Camry LE wagon v6. Great little car, very very few miles and super fun to drive. It’s no eclipse, but it’s good for now. I came to say good bye and thank you all for all of your help and advice, I truly. Appreciate each and everyone of you guys. I truly hope I’ll be able to afford another DSM and it will treat me a tad better. Thank you all, you’ve all been the best people to talk and learn from, I’ve truly loved this experience even if it took a full years salary as a senior in high school. 😂 I do hope to talk to all soon enough, stay safe and drive well. I pray the Lord be with you all, thank you guys, once again.

Aww man, sorry it didnt work out for you. Thats the way these old cars go tho...Easier to have owned it forever as a daily driver, than to buy one 30 years later and try to make it into such.

Attack the rest of life the way that you did trying to get this car to run and the sky's the limit for you kid. Best of luck to you.

Duder, this is gonna make me cry.. shit.. let me say this, you were the only thread I followed .. man, that just steams me.. it is what it is.. yeah been fun and yes they will drain you , working on mine right now, replacing all the gaskets on the intake side.. dang it man, I finally got mine running half-assed and it is so much fun spinning the tires all the way through second into third.. I’m on a bummer now

And Ruby, I had to wait till I was retired to get a fun little car, but here I am.. Good things will come to you, just remember, if you work, life works..

Diesel I hope you're still on here. I've been doing this a long time, 30+ years. I've seen few if ANYBODY attack this as you have, especially with the limited knowledge you brought to the table. I hope you stay into cars as you will have successful projects if you stay this course. No matter what you do I think it was time and money well spent. You can't get this kind of knowledge from the classroom and it will apply to many areas. Great job.

Hey it’s all good, I hoped it would, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Plus, I am not really at the age that I can sit and enjoy a car like that and not worry about getting to work or school the next day. 😂 thank you so much man, I really really do appreciate you’re help.

Oh I will absolutely remain on this site and into cars, I have always always had a passion and love for them. I waited for the age where I could own one just to work on it since the day I gained consciousness. Thank you very much Mr. Paul. You’ve been one of the best helpers I’ve had ever, especially for this car. You guys have all been wonderful and huge blessings in my life. Thank you again.

It is what it is, I hate to agree but I do. I’m off to the next project, and I will be getting another project car soon, do not worry. It was just draining me and I have to have a car I can get to work on time with and not have to worry about it over heating. 😂 I know I’ll have to wait awhile before I have time like I did, but I just loved the journey and working on that thing every single second. I am so very excited for what is in store for me for my next project.

That’s absolutely amazing!!! I have that exact one!! It’s killer, decentish gas mileage, the strong V6 2.5L. It’s got some kind of leak, it’s 0-60 is 16 seconds when it should be around 9. The interior is absolutely mint, I mean it looks brand new. It’s 70k original miles, 1 owner, picked this killer up for 1900!!!! In California of all places!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂 I won’t work on this one to much to maintain reliability, unless it’s simple. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it all up and out, the idles a little off every now and then it has a hard time starting and keeping a good idle, it’ll fluctuate a lot and then slowlyyyy steady out. But man, it is just so fun to drive. I took it for a longer drive and it handled like a champ, my gas mileage went up about 8-10 mpg, but I think there was some other kind of play in there to help me out, just can’t figure out what is causing the bad mpg. I miss my eclipse so much, but man she’s a beast and so beautiful for the age. What can I say, I like em older! 😂😂😂

Hell yeah man, that wagon is nice! Congrats on the new car! Responsibilities come first before the fun toys, but hopefully you'll be able to get into another DSM here shortly!

Like I said, good things will come, Kyle has got the right idea.. responsibility first, then play.. I don’t know if you got kids but that will put a damper on play time for sure..
Me? Nooo… I just turned 18. 😂 im gonna be honest that would damper just about everything. No, I go by the Lords timing for all that I can. But in all honesty, I am terrible at waiting for things like that car, I knew it was going to have issues but I wanted to work on one and drive something fast so badly. I really am trying to grow up a little and realize that I am going to have to do all of that fun stuff when I am older.
