Is there anyway to upgrade the hp in a 99 gsx to 250whp with out swapping out the T25 turbo besides doing major internal work? i read the stage 1 upgrades but i really dnt want to upgrade the turbo just yet cause i drive it everyday and i need it to last awile longer before i get another car so i can swap the turbo out later on!

Swapping out to a Turbo that isnt to large i.e 16g Evo3 Big16g and or cheapest alternative 14b... either turbo or setup you go with if you dont boost can work as a daily driver...

If you have looked at upgrade paths.. Full Exhaust including downpipe and Cat Back,,, Should put you close on where you want to be..

Search Search Search friend, its out there!

Swapping the turbo is not a huge job...

The make simple kits for the 14b/16g. And both those turbos can take you to your desired horsepower goals much easier than the t-25.

I think its pretty clear he has next to no mods, as he states.. he has only read the stage 1 upgrade paths...

Def go with the ultra cheap 14b or 16g...very simple installation and its been done enough where the documented process is extremely sufficient.

i have just spark plugs and wires done so far... ive also herd about getting it w. the t-28 turbo and it looks stock and id like to keep as stock looking as possible... if i were to swap the stock for the t-28 would i have to get a different j-pipe or coulds i use pretty much the stock parts around the turbo... this has been helpful

Oh yeah...The T-25 will basically fly apart if you take it too high. I had the exhaust wheel rolling around in my exhaust shortly after turning it up to 25psi.

The 14b and 16g looks stock too.

I had the FP Big T28 on mines.. Straight swap! SPools niice

now how much boost r u running on the t-28 and if u now how much whp u think ## running... does anyone no if theres a aftermarket bov that i can Recalculate the air flow like how it does stock? i have people around where i live saying stuff and telling me things i should do but then i come on to this site and the people that told me stuff just sound retarded so if i seem unintelligent about the eclipse its cause people have told me things and thats all i really have to go off of

This site is one of the best communities out there for any car...always check this site first before making any decisions.

The T-28 is a little pricey for the power and spool. You will have similar if not better with a 16g for less than half the price.

Yeah but if price isn't a matter to him and he's looking to keep it stock looking then the t-28 is a good option. And yes hard ic piping with a 1g bov would be perfect for you bud. Non collapsable ic piping is one of the best mods you can do, very noticeable difference.

A 14b or 16g with an install kit (whether bought whole or pieced together) is cheaper then an FP big T-28. An Evo III 16g also has more potential then any T-28 in my opinion. A 16g will still appear stock to anyone his isn't knowledgeable about these cars. The only advantage to a T-28 really is that it may spool a little faster and it is a 100% bolt on upgrade for 2g's. Look at it this way though; There are tons of 2g guys putting 16g's on their cars, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone with a 1g going through the trouble of installing a T-28 on his car.

He'll probably have to do the supporting mods as well. Fuel pump, fpr, head gasket + ARP, exhaust, BOV, MBC, bigger injectors and some piggyback/ECU to adjust fuel. If it's FWD, then Quaife is a must, stock DSM gearboxes and especially diffs are super crappy. Clutch might start to slip at some point as well.

The upgrade paths at this site are very good, follow them. But remember, gearbox will give up sooner or later, it's better to get stage 2+ as soon as you can, because they do and will break.

From personal experience get rid of the t25. I am in the procees of rebuilding my engine as in at machine shop now and my t25 exploded. It handled 16psi of boost for about 2 months and it wasnt even on 16psi all the time. I looked at t28 also but like they said above im going with evo3 16g. look through this site it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh please use proper English. This is a technical forum, not a text messaging conference. "U" is not "you", etc.

i have people around where i live saying stuff and telling me things i should do but then i come on to this site and the people that told me stuff just sound retarded

The stuff those people are telling you is wrong. And yes, they ARE retarded. I'll just bet at least one of them has said "My brother/cousin/friend had one of those and it was soooo fast. He had a T3/T4 turbo and it ran 10's".

What spark plugs and wires did you use? Do you have a datalogger? Boost gauge? Done a boost leak test yet? These are things you need to do before even attempting to increase your horsepower, swap turbos, increase boost, etc. Take the time to read the VFAQ articles, the FAQ's on here, and any other threads that have to do with questions you're facing.

How about instead of wasting thread space since this has been covered 98724398734 times, make him research it himself. And I did not tell him to search, I'm telling you that as a MOD you should since were not allowed to..
