How much whp, makes a stock DSM AWD on a Dynojet or any other dyno?

I've searched like half hour and i haven't found something about it. :shhh:

I think 157 whp is a bit high. Back in the day, My 63 Corvette DD made 421 crank HP but only 240 whp and ran a 13 flat 1/4 mile at 120 mph.
Yeah, but you also had an automatic trans in that Vette. The drivetrain power loss on a DSM isn't near as high as it was on your Vette.

AWHP people AWHP :banghead:

So i guess 140 awhp for a 1G ?
A stock AWD 2G should be right around 170 WHP.
A stock 1G should be putting down roughly 155 WHP.
FWD version of each will have roughly 5% more power to the wheels.

on factory stock 2G's we see anywhere from 150-160 whp on the local dyno around here, normally this is the range me and by buddies use as a baseline after our cars get tuned -=D

Doesn't anyone know of someone with a stock dsm? Just go and dyno it!!!
The problem is that each dyno will read a little different. I few years back, I watched a buddy of mine dyno a bone stock 2G on a heartbreaker Mustang dyno and it only made 90-something WHP.

The other issue is that these cars were said to produce 210 crank HP when new. But they're not new anymore. They're tired, 10-20 year old cars, so the output will typically read a bit lower than when they were fresh off the line.

really, close to 43% loss on that vette?? Were you on stock trans??

It had a stock Borg Warner T10 4spd manual backing up the fuel injected 327 CI motor.

This was back in the day of UJ's instead of CV's and cast iron drive shafts.

With a curb weight of 1990 lbs it did alright for a daily driver. The guy with the record in my class was running in the 10s but that was a trailer queen.

stock to the crank 210hp, to the wheel 190hp.

You really posted that here when people have said they've dynoed the cars at 150-170whp?

You're kidding yourself if you think you're only loosing 10% through the AWD drivetrain.

Ive seen 1g AWD's do 175whp on a dynojet. Ive seen them lay down 140whp on a load bearing dyno. So anywhere from 140-180whp is what you should be getting on most dynos. Its still very hard to find a stock dsm on a dyno. Usually has something somewhere done even if its only a cutout air box.

ha I don't even wanna know what my 420a would put down on a dyno

^^+1, We wont know any exact numbers. Mostly because some "stock" ones are worn more than others. But i'd have to agree with Jay.

Generally drivtrain loss is anywhere from 10 - 20% of flywheel HP. The 1G AWD make 190 @ crank. Assuming that the AWD consumes 15% (thats being generous IMHO). The wheel HP for a 1G AWD should be around 160.75

210 x .15 = 31.5

210 - 31.5 = 178.5

This should be a high end number for a dynojet on a properly maintained bone stock 2g awd.

195 x .15 = 29.25

195 - 29.25 = 165.75

This should be a high end number for a dynojet on a properly maintained bone stock 1g awd.

Also, the increased boost in the 2g is offset by the fact that it's a t25 instead of a 14b. The power increase in a 2g comes from higher compression and a better designed exhaust setup.

a 1g awd stock making factory power (meaning everything is maintained) puts down around 120 @ the wheels.

I highly doubt a 1g awd would loose that much hp through the drivetrain....stock for stock, a 1g has way more potential...better head, turbo...etc...

Stock for Stock, the turbo is proven to be better but I'm a strong believer of velocity over volume when it comes to the head and the 2G has a better head design. This is irrelevant though because stock for stock, the 2G makes more horsepower.

thats also a rwd car thats going to lose more due to the distance the power has to travel. But i do have a dumb ? How is a awd car dynoed? Meaning, isnt the hp going to be greater at the front wheels compared to the rear do to power loss thru the drivetrain?
